Am/fm 8 track with cb radio

My father in law had a am/fm 8 track w/ cb radio in his truck when me and the wife married.I was wondering if they offered this set up from the factory or was a dealer option. I have one that I'm thinking about installing.It mounts in the am hole in the dash.

Pictures tomorrow when I can get to radio.

Not from the factory and it wasn't an authorized dealer Radio/CB as far as I know but ...

In those days the Dealer would put in whatever was available. I would guess it was added on later in the years.

There was a separate CB radio, an under dash GM 8 Track Player, and AM-FM radio from 1971 on I believe.

Just wondering.Tired of looking at the am and thought about putting the combo in Everything works but the changer on 8 track. I have a cd player in glove box I'm wanting to mount so bad BUT i'm not cutting the dash.I'll get pics tomorrow of the unit.

GM had in dash AM/FM tape players (8 track & cassettes) with a remote CB unit. The earliest I remember these is the late '70 though. Many of the GM radios have a similar form factor and it is very possible that one of these units might fit. Along a similar line I was able to easily fit a later GM AM/8 track into my '72 Vega GT wagon's dash without modification. Here is a picture I dug up of a 'vette unit from '78

Mid to late 70's Caddy's often had these. Sold a few over the years from my junkyard trips.

The knobs above even look like Cadillac style (wood grain)

CB's were a Seventies thing. I know GM had combo units but not for the '67-72's. 8-tracks were pretty much gone by the early Eighties. I bought an AM/FM/8-track for an '81 Impala we had, back in '82. It was a direct install using all factory wiring and plugs. Nice.

The squarebody guys may have a better answer for you, as I think it was possible to get such an animal on that body style...later in the Seventies.

ChevLoRay spoke of the square guys. Will a radio from a square fit into our 67-72 dsah without cutting?I have trhee trucks that I am working on of that style[ 67-72] and luckily all have uncut dashes and two still have the original AM jams in them. I would like to put in a am/fm radio if I could and still look half way factory. I have asked a similar question a long time ago but nobody ever answered me. Jim

Is that one from the square-body era? Spacing on shafts look quite similar to 67-72's.

Sorry that is not a GM radio, it is an aftermarket that probably was sold through the dealer. I have seen one AM/FM/CB that was for the later square body and it did not look like that. Still a cool thing if if fits without hacking, it has adjustable stalks so that should be easy.

I was searching to see if GM put stock radios with cb in and found this thread
I was wondering if anybody else had one
I'm sure it fits and the guy says it works he just took it out to scrap the car
said it even monitors the CB channel while listening to the radio

That is a sweet looking radio but I would venture to say it would not fit our truck radio opening. I have an Automatic AM-FM 8 Track radio and a Panasonic AM-FM 9 Track that is suppose to fit in our trucks but haven't checked them out yet.

Going from memory here (and I have seen several in Cadillac sevilles 77-79.)
but my understanding as far as an actual gm unit it was the top of the line found in Cadillac.

The radios you guys have posted here are way cool. especially the CB/8track combos!!!

Kinda wanta keep it.but who knows.motornut those wont fit our dashes unless you cut it but the top radio will fit your body style.I had one in my 78 at one time.
