After market alternator and p.s. bracket info needed

Has anyone installed aftermarket brackets for the alternator and/or power steering?

If you have, please post some pics and also mention if you were satisfied with them or if you had to shim to make them align properly.

I'm working on a 350 engine that I bought and having trouble finding the original stuff that aligns properly so I'm leaning to aftermarket stuff even though I don't care for all the chrome.

Thanks.

I used alan grove brackets on my 283 for the PS and ALT, he also has pulleys for sale. Cant get any pics at the moment, in transit. They worked well, no shimming required.

Hey man,
check out post#10 in my photo build thread... "Link in my Sig below"

I have some good pictures of the Alan grove PS bracket & a summit racing alternator bracket. Both are mounted on the drivers side.

Let me know what you think, I have a lot more pictures & info if you or anyone needs any.
Good luck!

Scott

Thanks. That's an awesome truck and build! And I know who's going to lay claim to it in a few years.

Other than having trouble finding a complete untouched set still on the engine here's another reason I'm not crazy about the looks of the stock mounting brackets.

Original mounting brackets are just plain ugle to me. It seems to me that GM could have done a better job.

Here's a try at modifying the ugly alternator top bracket. Surprisingly enough, the alternator stayed pretty solid with the bottom and front mounts.

Re: After market alternator and p.s. bracket info needed

The brackets you pictured are not from 67-72 chevy trucks. They are from a later version and that motor has a long water pump. On our trucks, the alternator is on the driver's side.
You could post a want to buy ad for a PS bracket set up, the correct pulleys, and the alternator brackets. You would need to change to a short water pump, and I am not sure if that later PS pump will fit the correct bracket so you might ask for the pump too.
Here is a pic of the correct alternator bracket set up. I don't have one of the PS pump bracket but it is cast and sits below the alternator with 2 bolts to the front of the block and one to the motor mount.

I'm aware of the differences. It's a long story but it's for my 69 which originally was a six cylinder. I bought the long block pictured without any peripherals and I already had everything from another 77 engine that I had. Only problem I have is I'm not crazy about the stock brackets.

Thanks for the input. I'll save the pic to my truck album in case I go back to everything original.

btw: Awesome work you did on that Blazer.

68gmsee - sorry if I was giving unneeded info - I should have looked to see how long you have been on here before posting. I like the trimmed alternator bracket - looks muck better. Thanks for the complement.
