Re: fire extinguisher bracket

Good thread! Every truck should have an extinguisher.

I can't imagine what an OEM dealer installed bracket would be worth.
Can't say I've ever even seen one in real life.

Quick release belt-style modern ones run less than ten bucks
for the smaller size (2-ish pound) extinguishers and can be had at
some hardware or farm supply stores.
I know Grangers carries a good selection.

If you buy the whole assembly, make sure the extinguisher has
a metal, not plastic, tip.

Where would you be mounting it?

Re: fire extinguisher bracket

What's wrong with a plastic tip? I've killed quite a few fires (way too many) with plastic tipped extinguishers.

I'm thinking most of them are throw aways and the poster was looking at one that could be refilled again and again.

The main thing is to mount it where you can actually reach it and remember where it is.
I had a fire in an ot van a couple of years ago and I knew that the extinguisher was in there but couldn't find it in a panic as it was hidden under the driver's captain chair where you had to duck down and look under the seat to see it.
