still need to install my notch wish i had a plasma cutter it has been hotter than hell here i am not looking forward to cutting and drilling all of that but am getting tired of the frame hitting the rearend if I dont put it in soon i am just gonna pound a notch in it lol i could air it up but I am afraid of heights lol

i just pulled the cups out and marked an inch all the way around the bottom of the cup and put it in a vice and put a cutting wheel on my grinder and cut it off was pretty easy took less than an hour to do both sides

I may be wrong, but by looking at your original pics, i think you put your lower cups in upside down and thats why the truck sat so high. They didnt need to be cut. They look like the ones that are designed to be recessed into the lower control arm. Its suppsed to be a cup and it looks like you used it as a pedistal?

These arnt my pics, but this is how they install. That way the bag sits lower in the control arm so you get the proper drop. You cut an 8" hole in the lower arm and weld the cups in.

Either way, this would be an easy way for you to get more drop. Its just 8" pipe with a cap on one end. Trace it out on the lower arm, cut it out, fit the cup into the control arm and weld it. I am going to do mine this way. Plus you can run a lower ride height with more bag pressure. As long as i get 4 inches of lift off the ground then I am happy.

yeah I am not sure you are right on that i researched quite a bit before I did mine and my bags wouldn't fit in the cups even if I wanted them to they mount on the top to keep the bags from rubbing on the sides of the spring pocket I know that you can cup your LCA's and get a little bit lower but from what I hear it is really hard on your ball joints I don't want to snap one while driving so I am gonna stick with this setup and save for a disk conversion and some drop spindles that should get me fairly low unfortunately I am gonna have to get some shorter headers then or go back with manifolds my headers hang down lower than my x-member right now thanks for the input though I have seen those LCA's before and thought about doing that

Was out of a 2000 ford 20 bucks at the junkyard it fits pretty good I like the flipdown armrest thanks for the compliments I dont have no where the budget most of these guys on here do but I do the best I can with what I have

Haha I hear ya, it's hard to put it all together quick enough and with all the fancy stuff on a minimum wage paycheck. But somehow us budget guys still get it done

yeah there are some things that I want to do but I have been driving it to much been enjoying it this summer think I will wait till the snow flies to tear it down again no matter what i can't seem to stay satisfied with how low I am been weighing zing the frame or dropmember the dropmember looks a hell of alot easier and porterbuilt starts at $1100 man it costs to go low but looks so damn good laid out we will see I am gonna start saving either way

The flat black is kind of a pain to wash and looks like our I'd getting chalky I wish I would have painted it satin for you posting guys I was thinking about spraying over the top of this with a satin clear let me know what you think the flat I used was just the rust oleum from home depot that you buy in the gallon

yeah my mistake. You are right. Im still learning about all this air bag stuff on these 67-72 trucks. My concern with cupping my stock LCA's would be trying to align it afterwards. You would have some crazy negative camber to deal with and also the ball joint angles you mentioned. I also have drums on the front of my new 1970 GMC and I am still contemplating what to do. I really dont want to swap to discs right now as I dont have the budget for it. Since spindles arnt available for drum brakes I was thinking I might bite the bullet and save for the Ride Tech dropped LCA's. You get 3" more drop (with proper balljoint and camber alignment) and that should put the front end down nicely.

yeah lowered control arms are definately the way to go if you can swing them i was looking at a porterbuilt dropmember because I can still use all of my stock stuff with it so far I have just been driving the heck out of it havent done anything to it lately probably when the snow flies I will tear into it again just got a welder and have been practicing up my welds so I can weld in my c-notch I am tired of the rear end banging around

thinking about tearing down the frontend and installing disc brakes and drop spindles how low can I get with spindles and bags in front also if I have power brakes already do I need to swap out the master cylinder any good threads with these done?

Man, to swap brakes I think you just need the proportioning valve that hooks to the mast. cyl. with short lines, then you hook your existing lines into the valve. have a 69 I swapped from manual drum to power disc, and that was all I changed on the plumbing. Also, search the suspension section, there is a thread about how low on bags with stock lca's. I was surprised. I haven't put my drop spindles or bags on yet, but they are in the shop waiting.
