Tachs in autos

ok i have automatic tranny in my truck and i have been thinking about adding a tach for racing ( yeah you can shift with a auto ) and for trouble shooting ( found a articale in my chevy book about tachs so , i was woundering if they are worth it.

why not? i have one, it helps to tune and to tell how high you are reving when you top shift or at certain mph, help recalibrate speedo if you do any tires mods...

Yeah thats what i have been telling this guy ( hes a import boy so what do you expect right ) so i was like it helps for tunning and all

I've got one in my 76... in fact, I have one in all my rides. I mounted the one in the 76 on the right side of the steering column. I like having one cause I tend to drive by my tach at times and it can indicate when you have a problem.

i had mine mounted to the center of my dash, facing the drivers seat. had it mounted to the column for a while, and then on the left side of the dash too. i like it better in the middle.

I have one mounted low but still use it a ton. I drive by it more than the speedo now. It lets you know exactly what your engine is doing. Helps me save gas and keep freeway fuel consupmtion down by knowing what it is doing. I say go for it. I have a cheaper white face one and love it.
