Front cab support
So... I've known for awhile that mine are rusted through on the bottom, but seem fine where they join the floor. Several vendors have them on their websites for ~$15, but a couple have "slip-on" repair panels. I don't have a shop or even a garage - just a driveway & carport. Think it's okay to cut away the rot & go with a slip-on? I can probably borrow a welder or get someone to weld it up for me. I just don't want to get into a major project; I need the truck to get to work!

Sounds like a reasonable repair to me. Although replacing the whole piece for $15 bucks isn't bad either

Do it right, a slip on is a cover up ala used car cover up.

Thanks to both...
There's no difference at all in initial cost, so that's not an issue.
My concern now is whether I can replace the support entirely without it being a major job; i.e., more than I can reasonably do in my driveway. Is there major sheet metal surgery involved? Does the cab need to be raised up - worse yet, removed? If so, there's just no way I can do it myself - therefore the question about the slip-on patch panels. Simply, if it's much of a job, I'll have to farm it out.
