Question speaker question

In my 79 I have one kick board speaker. I have a set of 2 way speakers and am wondering how the heck to install them. I don't know much about the wiring on the truck. Help is much appreciated!

Re: speaker question

Wiring these speakers into your truck is very simple. The fact that they are 2-way speakers doesn't really have much to do with the wiring itself. A "2-Way", also known as a Coaxial speaker simply means that you basically have a small woofer and a mid-range / tweeter all built into one speaker cage unit.

Basically all that is needed to wire in your speakers is to tie them into the correct speaker output channels on the back of your truck's head-unit / radio. Any radio should have, at a minimum, two sets of speaker outputs... (1) left & (1) right. These easiest way to determine which wires these are is to trace the existing wire attached to your speaker to the back of your radio. The wires to the speakers are a simple + to + and - to - connection at both the radio and the speaker terminals. The most difficult part of the whole project is getting to the backside of your radio to gain access to the speaker outputs.

Hope this helps somewhat... good luck on the install! The coaxial speakers will be a nice sound improvement!

Re: speaker question

is it stock?
AM mono one speaker?
is there an ohms rating?
I think lower then stock ohms over heats the radio amp
may damage it

does each speaker have it's own ground, or - wire
or is there only one black
if only one, then each speaker -, and the power -, all need to go to the body ground
but don't ground the speakers if they have their own -

throw up a pic

Don't think you can "phone" pics in yet
Shouldn't be too hard
Be sure to support it from behind
Might bend the knobs or worse
