is my motor/trans worth trading for a truck?

im sure im crazy but i was thinking about selling my motor to buy a decent daily driver to tinker on while i drive it, or possibly trade it for a decent truck, does this sound like a outlandish idea, do you think theres actually people out there that would do that sort of thing?

i have alot invested in my motor and i know either way id take a loss on it, but id rather take a loss trading for a truck, so am i being unrealistic to think that id find someone who'd trade me?

ive seen people do it, and depending on what it is you could get something decent at least.

Re: is my motor/trans worth trading for a truck?

well its not gonna bring ls6 cash for it, but i have a friend who traded a tbi 350 for a very nice parts truck that did run and drive, but that was a stock motor.

i dont know what you have into this motor so i cant say what its worth but i dont think its a bad idea to try.

Re: is my motor/trans worth trading for a truck?

Might try a CL ad for a trade and see what happens. Just don't expect much of a vehicle in return. Someone who has a vehicle to trade for an engine is looking to upgrade. Might just be better off finding a ride needing a motor and dropping it in. If you do try and sell the motor it may do better as a short block and parts. But getting even close to fifty cents on the dollar is unlikely.
