Rear fender patch panels

Does anybody make them for a 47-53? I've looked in nearly every parts book I've seen and can find them for the front fenders but not the back. I will probably end up making my own but was just wondering if there is anybody who makes them. Plus I don't want to buy two new ones at $450 each.

Also, I am having a hard time finding the GMC front grill emblem for my '49. Mine is cracked in half and will need another when I get to that point. I can find Chevy front emblems but no GMC. Thought about hitting up some swap meets sometime but I think I've missed them for this year. Thanks!

Google Jim Carter's in Kansas City, they have them for the front edge where it attaches to the running boards.

Re: Rear fender patch panels

These fenders were a lot more work than I'd like to do again but a great learning experience.

Re: Rear fender patch panels

They look really good to me. I'll probably end up makin my own as well. Just thought it would Be easier to find some to weld in place.

Re: Rear fender patch panels

I bought the patches for the front and they didn't fit so I made my own.

Re: Rear fender patch panels

I've never seen any patch panels sold for them except the piece for where they bolt to the running boards.

Re: Rear fender patch panels

Could you share with us your procedure for making those? Did you hammer form the wheel opening?

Re: Rear fender patch panels

The rear portion of the fender I formed with a planishing hammer.
For the wheel opening I modified a small vice grip and just slowly bent it in small increments. I'll see if I can find a picture of the vice grips. On the Metal Meet.com site there is a good thread on forming a wheel opening on a 36 ford that might be helpful.
