power steering lines
We bought some OE power steering lines from Rock Auto for this 71 C10manual to power change and I'm thinking there is something wrong....
The pressure line looks right but it doesn't lay flat on the frame and the other was just a stub about 2" long that almost has no bend. According to the pictures some have posted here the lines are suppossed to lay flat on the frame and a small bracket holds both lines down. Does anyone have ideas or clear pictures of what it's suppossed to look like? |

Here's a picture of the bracket but I have seen the lines run other ways, I guess it depends on the situation. Zoom it in and it's easy to see.

No one puts the bends n angles in the right place anymore. They put the bends in but are a shade different enough to create all sorts of problems. A slight difference can make a huge problem with leaks or not fitting under the clamp you are referring too. Plus what they charge you for the pressure line compared to having a custom one made will make you upset. My answer after several lines was to have a custom line made with the ability to swivel or adjust this is in the center. Very easy for a line shop to do. yeah and the cost was only a $20. And took him 15 min max.

A local guy who does this on the side out of his garage. Took my line had him modify it as needed. Some of your local NAPA stores and several others make custom lines can do it. Just copy that pic explain what ur wanting. I also had him shorten the line 4 inches as I thought it was too long. Good luck.
