Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
Not mine. looks nice. Doesn't look 100% correct on the hoses but overall maybe as good as you can find?

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
That's an incredible truck. I'd love to have it. I like that it's a 4spd. Musta changed the headlights. I didn't think T3s didn't came in these. Wasn't it Power Beams? Maybe I'm wrong

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
My dads 70 had t3 headlights and it was a 39,000 mile truck when he bought it. The truck in the ad would be awesome to have, I love the interior in it

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
The seat covering isn't correct.
Wrong fabric, center section would have 2 scrolls, it only has one, and the center scroll vinyl width is to narrow. Why would the seats need to be redone at less than 26K miles ? Clean no doubt, but I would want to really go through it with a fine tooth comb being advertised as that low miles, could be 126K being its from Montana. Still clean though.

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
That is one nice truck.
The concern I have is that the brake pedal shows a lot more wear than a 26K mile truck. It looks more like 126K to me. I would want to see some documentation to confirm the mileage. It also has those snow tires on the rear. The original owner meant to drive it year round, not park it during the harsh Montana winters. NoNeck

That seat question made me look in my files . . . I have six pictures of what was said to be original seats and four have one scroll in the middle and the other two have two scrolls. Three of the four single scrolls are GMC's. The one pictured below, is from a 69 GMC Longhorn and looks original to me . . . INTERESTING !!! Maybe I'll have to start a new thread and ask THAT question !!! . . . . |

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
Thanks for that update in your findings Steve, that is very interesting. The only thing consistent with these trucks is that they are inconsistent! Wow.

Truck looks legit to me. The scrolls were probably different in different years. 71-2 had 2 scrolls for sure, probably 69-70 had single? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
It might have its OEM front tires but I doubt it, tires were crap at the time and would be done in less than 26K. The rears are obviously not original. Other than that it is nice find.

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
The only thing I see that kinda makes me think it really isn't a time capsule, and these are questions I would like to see answered.
The underhood wiring on the driver's side, was it that messy from the factory? The red heater hose, is that factory? What about that wire laying on the pass inner fender? And what is that bottle on the rad support? I thought the washer was on the driver inner fender? And that "T" I see comin off the T-Stat what is the story on that? Just me being curious. This truck almost looks too good to be true.

Red heater hose... not original. Back in the day we replaced all hoses fairly often. Red heater hose was common. It amazes me how much longer today's hoses last. The washer bottle location is OK, at least for early 69s. That's where mine has always been. Not sure what you mean about a "T" Coming off the thermostat. The heater hose come off the intake as it should. However, it should go directly to the heater core. Not sure what that "T" is about after the hose leaves the intake though. It also looks like below eyleline mirrors from 71/72 were added in addition to the originals still being there. These are all minor discrepancies. I would still consider this a time capsule and a really nice one at that. |

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
Back in the late 90's my brother found a pale yellow c10 fleetside with a bb 400, th400 ps pn Ac radio delete, white bumpers and wheels/ poverty caps. 16k original miles, still had original tires belts and hoses. Bed had been side swiped due to truck being parked too close to gate. Original owner was a cabinet shop who bought it to pull custom installs trailer and parked when gas crunch hit. The pass side inner and outer fender radiator support had to be replaced due to battery rust. We went down to dealer and bought them over the counter. Paid $1500 for it, replaced items above and bed painted it installed rally wheels and radials we had on hand and sold it a few years later for $10k

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
Funny thing was they still had the dealer paperwork and because they special ordered it with no options but 400/400 ps pb and Ac, they paid more for it than
My uncle did for the 72 Cheyenne 400/400 with tilt wheel that he bought off the lot in late 72! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
As usual everyone comes out of the woodwork to pic a very nice survivor truck apart
I personally would love to own it! Here are the pics for when the ad goes away.

The "tee" in the heater hose could be for a tank type engine heater.

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
I bought a 60 Biscayne and the previous owner had racked up 1700 miles in 11 years according to the oil change stickers. It takes some people a long time to accumulate miles and over time things where out even if not driven much.
I like the spark plug shields. Nice truck! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
From what I see, it is a great truck and probably 26k miles. I have never seen a brown interior in a green truck, though...

Re: Survivor! MN craigslist find- original tires
My '71 GMC had three of the original T-3's when I bought it less than a year ago. Of course, two were burned out.
