465/205 to th350/205 Swap Questions

Got a call from a friend in Invermere who has a 72 K20, that as of today has a broken pressure plate. He is seriously thinking of swapping in an auto. Figures he has access to some of the bits required (auto column/linkage etc) but his question was how late you could go with the 350 and still have the right 'body'? He wondered '79, I said I don't know but I know who will! Anyone?
My question is then the length issue. Where does all this this sort out. I've searched and can't find anything definative. Are there two adapter lengths meaning long adapter and 465 is the same as a 350?
So besides auto column/linkage you need-
Neutral safety wiring
flexplate/starter
27 spline deal on the 205
And?? I'm going to PM Ironhorse, anyone else done all this?

Any T350 from a 4X4 will have the correct body and output shaft. the adapter from the 465 will need to be replaced along with the 205 input gear (T350 uses a 27 spline input)
There are two T350 adapters, the "figure 8" version (stock for the 72) and the round version.

This site may be of some help to you

Thanks Livrat. I'm coming up to speed here slowly.
Any idea how you then end up length wise if you want to leave transfer case cross member (and driveshafts) stock?

Re: 465/205 to th350/205 Swap Questions

If I remember correctly (its been many years since I have had a 465) the overall length is between the 465/205 and a T350/205 is the same
