Re: How much to sell your truck

Every vehicle I have can be bought or traded for. I recently traded my 71 K20 for a 62 Ford Unibody to a close friend (DrDefunk now on the board).

I have yet to find the one keeper, and I have had a lot of cars and trucks go through my fingers.

Re: How much to sell your truck

I just went thru this. Was offered $25k cash. Thought I would take it then countered with $28k. When it came down to it, I wasn't ready to let her go.

Re: How much to sell your truck

I put it for sale for $6500. for about 12 hours , had tons of interest. The truck is not worth any more than that in this area. I always get the "is it for sale" question , I just say no , but you can try to buy it , how much today?... It would need 5 didgets , this truck's not worth anywhere near that.

Thanks I appreciate that....

People some times do not realize how much money we spent on these buckets. I have added my receipts a few times and I get sick with the total

It drove my sister crazy, that I had all of my receipts in a box. She could not understand how I could not want a total price. She just had to know, so she added them up... I wished she hadn't have done that

Re: How much to sell your truck

actually posted on craigslist for $4500 and possible trade and my phone blew up with 23 text messages the first 3 hours and 14 emails, I took the price off and posted best offer. Had some really entertaining trade and cash offers, highest offer is 5500 cash by 3 different people, but I think my son realized the likability of these things. He wanted to sell to buy a new car to use in school. not sure what I will take for it. its a daily driver for him.... interior is very good too! what are these young city boys thinking

Smile Re: How much to sell your truck

Well, despite best intentions and some initial sentimental beliefs I believe that pretty much everything is for sale for the right (maximum$$) price at the end of the day...except people.
That said there are a few 'values' that I guess I would think of in considering my truck.
One is the market value...which is probably around $12K. The other is the personal value...which is realistically probably something over $20k.
Like most people in the hobby, I love my vehicle (truck) and I have no intentions of ever selling it but if someone walked up with a duffle bag with $100,000 dollars in it and said "trade?".....I'd move on it...you bet.
After seeing the excellent other examples out there through this forum...I figure I stand good odds of replacing it for less than that if I had to.
My two bits.

Re: How much to sell your truck

I honestly couldn't name a walk away price for my trucks. before I moved up to the mountain, people would randomly stop by and ask a selling price for my 67 all the time. even now, when people see my '67 and my '69 lined up for the first time, most people ask "which one" and "how much" for the first couple of visits, and my dad wants my '97 3/4 ton so bad he can't see straight. ironically, the only one that people rarely ask about is my DD '96 silverado, which is the best one I own, economically and reliability wise...

Re: How much to sell your truck

You know the other day I was trying to add up how much in receipts I have for my Longhorn. That number I roughly knew. But then my Dad piped up and said, "Think of how much you would have to pay some one else to build it. What would that cost?" I just shook my head and told him I could never recoop that expense. Who knows how many hours I've spent on it. But I could easily see how some people can rack up a 30k or higher bil at a shop building a project like this.

Re: How much to sell your truck

I find that most want to "Take it off my hands for a song" so if they don't just make an offer I can refuse and ask how much I tell them"Start counting money into my hand and when you're finished,I'll either give you the keys or a ride."So far, everyone is done then.I have had some stupid people offer less than I have in the suspension for it.I just walk away.

Re: How much to sell your truck

With the '72 (the blue truck), for some reason I decided to "do" two shows. Not really my style, but it was fun. Don't get me wrong,
I like to meet and show parts to other drivers/owners/builders, for sure. But in a show that's not local, I get a little shy.

I was talking to a local guy at the second show...which was fun...and he asked, "How Much?". I had $25,500 in it....
Not that I wanted to know, but I had added up the stuff ...(barf)....a couple of weeks earlier.

Anyway, on one of the saddest days of my life, I sold her to him for $12,500. I don't know why I did it. It was 2007 and I guess I was just done.
It cost me waaaay more than the difference between the $25,500 and $12,500. 'Cause once you get the 67-72 deal in your blood, you can't find
medicine to cure the disease. Except another build.

Fast forward: Now I've got $15k in a jalopy that is probably worth $5k...And I'm just sick enough to put another $6k or so in paint to make it worth
$10k or $12k.
