i am ready to put these together but i just want to double check with someone that i am doing this right , the vents are different on each side , which side faces out ? And is this how the felts go ?

i just realized the vents are ROUND...they will flip either direction once installed ....DOPE !!!

This site is PSYCHIC!!, yesterday afternoon I had the driver's outlet apart 'cause the duct hose had come off of the back of it. I was gonna post and ask if somebody had a good idea how to re-attach the hose to the back of the outlet.... like tryin' to stretch a gnat's a$$ over a coke bottle.... couldn't do it. Finally used duct tape... HA, first time I EVER used duct tape on a DUCT. ANYWAY, thought it was funny that I was thinking about A/C outlets and first post I look at is these pictures.

You have the felt strips in correctly, you have to trim the length of course. I've always wondered which side of the ball faces out as well, I ended up having the simple side out. Are you going to paint them? If so I would not assemble them until you paint unless paint is a ways down the road.

lol, i just put one of them together and that vent ball is SUPER TIGHT everytime i try to move the vent ball it pop the vent apart ??

thanks , and yes just had them painted, that is the color of the truck

Mine does not have the felt on the black hose connector. Just on the front painted piece. They seem to hold in place well and do not pop it apart.
I ran the angled side outward thinking being that the air coming to the vent would have to work harder to go around the angles when inside the vent.
Can't really notice much difference though.
Will check again when all is hooked back up.
Painting them today and reinstalling complete hose system.

I put felt strips on both sides and the balls are hard to turn. Not sure which side is supposed to face out, they are different.

I have to change that. They have felt on them. They should be a little hard to turn til they wear in.
The vent above the radio has the angled side outward so this is how I put my round units.

The theory is that the angled side out diffuses the air flow and the straight side out provides direct flow. Turning them sideways shuts off all air flow.
