sanding ole dollor,and painting

well it took a little over a month to sand and fix all the body work ole dollor had, i will post some pic's of the process , started painting early saturday morning, then the guy across the street decided to mow and weed eat his yard, then the bugs showed up, and the slight south west wind kept most from coming my way, but the bugs had no trouble locating my house.....i stopped painting to let him finish, and another neighbor started mowing while i was painting again.....he had made a pretty good swipe of the front yard before i could get his attention.....so i ask him to do the mowing later and he stopped and went back into the house, yes i had to paint ole dollor in the drive way, and no one has had to mow in six months because we have not had any rain....so i never dreamed that any one would be mowing, but i guess laber day week end is the key..... i got the first coat of dust and bugs on....and it did not look to bad....i can always sand some more, and i tried to use one of those HVLP paint guns for the first time, and never got the hang of it, so i got out my old spray gun and used it, and of course it did a little spit and spudder ....so now i think my pint may be to thick.....so i thin some more.....getting better.....so i got the second coat on today, and will finish maybe monday......hear are some pics of the what i have so far......

Whoo-Hooo!! Looking good!!! I like the Yeller. I do some of my painting outside too.

Looks like maybe you are going to have a white top. That will be sharp if you do. Keep up the good work. ..

Re: sanding ole dollor,and painting

I like the yellow on these trucks its not a color you see very often, my kids truck was orignally yellow I begged and pleaded too keep it yellow but being a kid he NEEDED the black, keep up the good work it'll pay off in the end.

I've been looking high and low around here for one of those (or a similar)step bumper for my truck I think they are cool

I guess one has to be a facebook member to see the pics... I get invites to join all the time but so far I have refused to join. Not my type of site, but trucks looking good.

I was wondering what part of west Texas Anton was in with all the trees and then I saw the pic that shows the back of your yard... Nice and flat and no trees in site. Been through there a few times.

Re: sanding ole dollor,and painting

Re. photos. I would just post a few at a time on this posting just like you did already. A lot of us like to see progress pics.

I've been through that part of the state on the way to N.W. a few times but I probably blinked and missed Anton or most of it. The 2010 population of a little over 1100 probably hasn't increased much in the last couple of years.

If I remember correctly windless days are pretty rare if it's like the Lubbock area. You don't take paper cups and plates to a picnic in west Texas.

Ole dollar, looks good! Did a great job. Which primer and paint did you use?

I like the wide white sidewalls with the moon caps. Good retro look.

The Facebook link works great for me, but I have a Facebook account. I'm not sure if the folks that don't have a Facebook account can see the pictures or not...
