I have some questions

First question is, what is my rear axle? I need to replace some seals and I am getting some conflicting answers of what it is. Second, I believe I have a vacuum leak. It idles high and it has no power at low rpms. I haven't been able to figure out what it is. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Re: I have some questions

That looks to be a Dana/Spicer 70, assuming that the truck is the DRW in your picture. Definitely not a 14 bolt. And there are many ways to find a vacuum leak, best way is to get a can of carb cleaner and start spraying around where you think the leak is, when you hear a change in the idle, you have found it.

Re: I have some questions

oh yea thats a dana 70 and good news the pinion seal, axle seals, hub seals, and the wheel berrings are all the same for the dana 60, dana 70, and the 14 bolt. silicone can be used to seal the cover, so dont look too hard for the parts because theres plenty out there.

Re: I have some questions

Thanks! Also does the dana 70 have a crush sleeve on the pinion shaft? I need to replace the pinion seal and just want to make sure I have everything before I get started. I am also going to be doing the axle seals while I am in there.
