Re: wood bed

The wood bed floor is standard issue in 73-87 stepside beds.

It was an option (RPO E81) in long fleetside beds from 73-80 and not very common from what I've seen. Dad's 77 GMC has this and it's the only one I've seen in person. Finding some of the special parts to restore it was a bit of a challenge as well.

The E81 wood floor option was not offered on the short fleetsides and was discontinued after 1980 on the longbeds.

Re: wood bed

They are not that common in Texas. If I find a bed for sale that's reasonable I will buy it. I have been looking for one for a while. Finding a complete truck would be great.

Perfect answer.

I thought I remembered seeing E81 available later than that, but in checking the GM Heritage Center archives I found you were exactly correct.

Re: wood bed

Also I have a Data book that says you could not order the wood if you wanted the Trailering Special. Camper Specials did have wood.
