Air cleaner clearance

What are people using for stock looking air cleaners on their trucks that have a 230-6 cyl with a power brake booster ? I added power discs to my 65 and only have a small amount of clearance from the booster to the carb (about 5 inches). I want a stock frying pan style air cleaner if possible.

Re: Air cleaner clearance

On my 65, I used a 4" air cleaner because of the space. I didnt have power brakes on that truck so I could have gone bigger.

Re: Air cleaner clearance

I used stock the stock power brake setup with the factory alum. wedge spacer. Chevrolet designed this becuase of the air cleaner clearance issue.

Re: Air cleaner clearance

Starting in '67 GM used an offset air cleaner on the I6 trucks equipped with power brakes. You might try looking in the '67-'72 classifieds here on the forum. They are not very easy to find, but they do pop up every now and then. Otherwise you might look into a 8-9" K&N air cleaner assembly. I had one of those on my '63 4x4 Suburban with the 292 and power brakes.
