Steering Column
Decided to go with an Ididit tilt column shift in chrome for my 57. I'm assuming the 32 inch column will keep things close to where the stock column sits. I've seen 'kits' that come with everything you need (drop, floor mount, etc..)
Anyone have input on where to order?

Re: Steering Column
On something like that and most new parts I'd say order from a vendor who has an actual walk in store along with doing serious online business.
Kennys rod and custom has an Ebay store and a walk in store in Ohio. If you have a big show like Goodguys close by in the next few weeks you might hit the vendors there as usually you can get "show price" deals and quite often buy the part right there and carry it home. My wife claims I spend more time in the vendors building than out in the show area when we go to Goodguys in Puyallup Wa. If you know the exact part number put it in a Google search and see who offers it up and what price they have it at. I looked on Speedways site and didn't find a chrome 32 inch column with column shift but found a 33 inch one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/IDT-1130330020/ That will give you a price to shoot for. Re: Steering Column
Good advice, I am having an issue with door latches I ordered in 07. Looked in the box when I got them and everything looked ok. went to install them and I have two passenger ones, no driver. Guy was just an online broker with a fancy name who is now out of business so I get to buy another.

Re: Steering Column
Very good advise there on where to buy a quality made column. The best thing about this is here at Scotts Hotrods can beat SUMMITS OR JEGS on Ididit column columns.
On this column you are after price will be $690.00 You will need a column drop and a floor mount still. We have these as well and you will need steering u-joints or rag joints. Best thing is support the board vendors. You will be suprised some can beat summit and jegs!!!!!! Justin |

Re: Steering Column
Here is my cut down 78-80 Chevy van tilt. The van column uses the same bearings as the 69-72 tilt but the turn signal assembly is different. I cut the main shaft 8 inches and outer sleeve about 5 inches. Look at my build for more details.
