Hmm either there is an optical illusion or there is a gap between the oil pan and bottom of the engine block on the opposite side directly across from the dipstick where oil can leak out.
Anyone else see that too?

Great score for a shop truck. Can't wait to see it on the road. Keep it up.

It's weird looking but that's the pan that came with the block....and you can't see the gasket but it does seal at the inside also...

Thanks, looking forward to driving it! And it's going to help me kickstart project #1 by being able to move things around more easily.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Got a set of pivots and a bunch of other cheap tools from Harbor freight today. Got the intake on and torqued down...

Still need a few small parts and waiting for a non-rainy day to paint....but it's buttoned up and hopefully leak free

Took a picture of the truck in the rain with the first fall leaves today....almost makes me want to clear it glossy....but my wife and I still prefer it matte....

Ordered a rear sway bar for this truck yesterday as well as a bunch of small bits...

Hope to get a lot accomplished this evening...

In the waiting room right now....my 7 yr old is getting an endoscopy to figure out a few issues she's having...

Thanks guys, she's doing fine other than a stomach ache from the anesthesia and throat pain from the procedure and temporary implant. We're upset because we were not explained she was getting the implant but at thiks point it's in her esophagas monitoring any acid reflux she has. We've gone to 5 doctors before this about allergy issues and the deterioration of her baby teeth and this is the closest we've been to answers. She gets monitored for 48hrs by the implant and then they chart the data vs a chart we make of w2hen she eats/drinks/sleeps. Praying this helps with her teeth for her permanent ones...and she doesn't have any future complications. As of now everything looked normal when they reviewed the pictures with us.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

On to the truck

Tonight turned into a mini meet when Nick - aka bmerdoc came over to help me. Then after an hour or so GMC Jester -aka Travis stopped in from Newport news to get a rear bumper setup and brake booster setup.

Had a great time talking with both of them and LOVED working on the truck it's always more fun with help and especially a fellow truck enthusiast to talk with. Thanks again Nick!

One of the reasons I Love working on the truck? The bolts all have come off like butter so far....I've been soaking them in pb blaster in advance but even a few I forgot to hit came out with a small 3/8" ratchet and minimal effort! Makes it much more enjoyable when you don't have to fight every nut!

We got the bed off and set on my spare frame and got the front clip off. I soaked down the rear suspension nuts for removal and hit the front frame/firewall with a can of oven cleaner to be followed soon by power washing and paint...

Long day so off to bed.

Trucks that are not weather sensitive and built to be used 24/7 365 are the real deal.

Such a cool truck. I love the post about your 5 and 7 yr old kids wanting to help. I also have a 5 and 7 yr old, and they love to help to, primarily tell me what colors I should paint my trruck, but they love to help too.

Although I love a good show truck I could never own one for long....would have to drive it or sell it

Thanks! They really like the truck and enjoy handing me tools and painting parts. I try to involve them as much as possible so they enjoy the hobby instead of it taking away time with me. We've also used the truck in hide and seek....put my 5yr old inside the engine bay (no engine) and later used the bed and her sister never found her

Jonathan! I was able to quickly find this thread after accidentally unsubscribing from it earlier. Been outside all day busting loose bolts and taking a bath in the pressure washer? Heres the pics I managed to take. I had planned on taking more but you know how that goes.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

By taking off that bed and clip we gave Jonathan so many projects it may be days before we hear from him! If I know him he is the epitome of a night owl and he'll post pics somewhere between 1:30am and 2:00am! I know hes out in his driveway right now doing something to that old truck. Bless his wife for being such a great supporter in what his passions are!! I reminded him, just before I left, that he has 3 weeks to get that truck running and driving before the FIRST ANNUAL EAST COAST C10 THROWDOWN! Don't snowball it Jonathan! Put it together and ride! Everyone raise your glasses! Jonathan is building a driver!

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Uhhggg! Hate baby shots! Always hated them. Maybe even worse than they did. I never liked to see that bottom lip pokin out. It always hurt me to the core. Ice cream always made us all feel better!

As far as the big boy shot go...Imagine how my 155lb, 5'8" frame felt this morning after lugging huge chunks of an old truck around the yard! If I had a twin I don't know if we woulda been able to get that stuff in the back yard. For you guys that don't know Jonathan is a very large man that wouldn't hurt a fly....Just don't get between him and his family!

Just got your text about the windshield. Get some foamy glass cleaner and I'll bring the cord! See you on Saturday!

I feel perfectly fine even after another day of heavy lifting/ wrenching....there are some advantages to being big

I think I have some of the glass cleaner...if not, I'll run out to grab some tomorrow earlier in the day...
