The 19.5's will be the same as any aluminum Alcoa or steel semi wheel you see, You just need to figure out whether yours are hub or stud pilot.

I don't know your tire sizes or rear end ratios, I am assuming your trans has a 1:1 final drive, if you could get me the tire size I could tell you what the increase would be. If you can get me the ratio of your axle I can tell you exactly what your rpm's will be at speed.

for instance though if you from a 275/80R22.5 to a 225/70R19.5 you will see about a 25% increase in RPM's With a 3.55 rear end ratio that works out to about 476 RPM.

If you make it over to Spokane ever Spaldings over there should have good used aluminum wheels that will fit your truck, you just need to get the bolt circle, stud diameter, and find out whether they are hub or stud pilot.

Re: my 66 C60

These older medium duty trucks have a smaller 10 bolt wheel bolt pattern than the heavy duty trucks, and also some of the newer medium duty trucks. I was looking for some 19.5 for you jon, back when you were needing tires, but I didn't find any with the right bolt pattern. If you think you might want to change to 19.5's, let me know and I'll see what I can find over here.

Are those 2 Pontiacs, Bonneville's?

thanks guys, the tires right now are 9.00 20's , the pontiacs are not bonnevilles, the hardtop is a ventura ,and the sedan is a star chief ( star chief is the bonneville trim level for sedans in 60)

Those tires should be a 40" tall tire, which means going to the 19.5's you would see a 23% increase in RPM's

Alternatively you could go with a 245/75R19.5 which will have a 33.6" over all diameter, so a bit taller. That would mean only a 19% increase in RPM's

I'd say that would be a pretty good trade off. It would lower the ride height of the truck 3 1/4" and would allow you to lower the suspension further, you could pull a good 9" of height out of the truck pretty easy that way which would make it much easier to load cars on.

the latest adventure was using it to put up some beams for a shed...
we were getting all sketchy on ladders, when we looked over and realized we had a rolling platform that we could just stand on !

Re: my 66 C60

the motor looks factory but the 1966 sales brochure says C 60s in 66 only came with 292 or optional 366. Could be a factory fluke? The brochure I have has the red C 80 tractor and load of lumber, 50- 80 series. You would think it only natural to offer a 327. Any one got ideas?

Re: my 66 C60

I'll check my Chevy Truck Manual when I get a chance. I always believed the Small Block was available, but I'll see what the book says.

Re: my 66 C60

I took a look in my 66 silver book, and they have the 327, and 366 as an extra cost option for the C & L/60, also the T/60, and M/60, the 292 was standard in all 4 of those.
C= conventional
L= low cab forward (snub nose)
T= tilt cab
M= tandem

all 4 of the 50 series were 250,standard, and 292/283 optional
all 4 of the 80 series were 366 only, no options.

Re: my 66 C60

thats kind of strange, if you get your hands on the 1966 gasoline chassis-cabs stakes brochure, the one with the red C80 pulling the 2 axle flat loaded with lumber, the 327 doesn't even exist? You'd think the 327 would be standard equipment. I guess the brochure is not up to speed.

Re: my 66 C60

I checked the book and it lists 5 Gas Engines available in '66 from the C-50 to the C-80:

250-6
292-6
283-V8
327-V8
366-V8

More or less the same as what jonzcustomshop has stated above.

The C-60 itself lists 3:

292-6
327-V8
366-V8

Re: my 66 C60

Just to add a little extra, as many will know, the 366 Big Block replaced the 409. The last year for the 409 was '65.

I have seen Brochures be wrong before. I really don't know why some were in-accurate, although it could be that the Brochures were printed very early and changes were made after they got out to the dealerships.

Re: my 66 C60

it looks like we caught them red handed this time. Theres a C 30 brochure that they used the same truck two years in a row, they air brushed over the earlier badges and crafted new ones lower on the 66 C 30

Re: my 66 C60

I took a break from my 60 build to get some wheels and a hood for this today.
the hood that came with this truck got wiped out when a beam (2X6) fell on it while parked under a shed we were building....come to find out it was no great loss, because it looked like the same thing had happened before, as a 6X1/4 inch chunk of bondo flaked off the dent...

this white hood is real nice, and came off a 65 50 series-notice again the clear park lights- this makes all three of the 65/66 50-60 series hoods I have ,that have clear park lights.

the wheels are the optional 22.5's available in 65, and are not a split rim, this means that I can get a modern tire mounted to them.

I like the "U-HAUL" warning!

Re: my 66 C60

that's a great score on the wheels. Its very hard to find 22.5 wheels in that bot pattern. If you come across anymore snag them. Somone around here would be interested in them.
