I am going to cut and weld the rear brackets so they are shorter. As for tucking it in on the sides, I will take a 1/2" out of each end, so it is closer to the bed side.

Re: 84 C10 Project

I decided to brush the wheel centers on Showwheels Streeters. I am thinking about doing the whole wheel to be different. I have finally decided on orange being the color of the truck. I think the brushed will look nice against that color, especially all brushed. The polished outer does tie in with the chrome on the truck though.

Still have some touch up to do on the brushing. Going to have the whole wheel cleared when I am done. This way it stays easy to clean and puts a small sheen on the brushed areas.

What do you guys think?

Re: 84 C10 Project

Started working on shaving the door. I am leaving the handles, but will be filling everything else and running small side mirrors. One piece window kit will be going in also.

Re: 84 C10 Project

Made some progress over the last week and today. I finished roughing in the door and got it blocked out and ready for the first coat of primer.... then I can hit it again and keep blocking. I moved onto the door jambs and stripped all the paint and smoothed it out some. Also finished the holes for the drip rail.

Is there another way to smooth out the jamb, other than filling it with bondo? I did a light coat, but there are so many high spot from the spot welds, that it seems a ton of work would be needed to smooth it out. I guess I could hit all the high spots in and go back over with filler.

Does anybody else have large gaps like this in their door? I have adjusted the door as best as possible, but can't seem to get smaller gaps. The body line is straight with the cab, so I can't shift the door up. Any suggestions or is this just the way they are. Some I see look better than other.

- Travis

Yep, I am making a new dash that has all the gauges in the center. I want to use the VHX gauge cluster. I have the dash roughed in, just have to buld the bottom half, and then onto door panels.

Thanks, I brushed them myself to make them a little different and something you won't see all the time vs. an all polished version.

Re: 84 C10 Project

Pulled the windshield and found some rust, which I figured would be there. Not too bad, and can definitely be fixed. Whoever had the truck before, used body filler on some to completely fill the holes...

Here are some pictures of the dash also. Still have a lot to do on it, but should get back on that dash project soon. Got a little side tracked with body work on the cab, then will move back to the interior.

Re: 84 C10 Project

Yeah, agreed. I am hoping to have it cut out this week and new filler pieces welded in. The truck in a original CA truck, but spend most it's life by the ocean cities, so I think this is why there rust holes to begin with.

Re: 84 C10 Project

Right now I am using the McGaughys front big brake kit and plan to use the rear as well. If the budget allows, I would like to switch over to the Baer T4 up front and SS4 rear. I like that look of the aluminum caliper.

Re: 84 C10 Project

Started work on the drivers door, and hoping to have all the body work roughed in by tomorrow.
