Just signed up!

Hey everybody, I just signed up on the site! I have a '68 GMC 1500 Fleetside that I got dirt cheap from a previous owner who wasn't using it.

My truck was in pretty bad shape, especially in the cab. The floor was rusted out in all four corners and the cab mounts were rotted beyond recognition. I lifted the cab and cut out the whole floor pan, replaced it with a new one, and put on new cab corners. I got new cab mounts and put the cab back on. I already had the frame blasted and painted.

If I said that I did countless hours of body work on this baby, it would be an understatement. I had all of the body panels off the truck, pulled all of the dents, welded in new metal, and sanded it all. Finally I primed the whole thing and put it back together. Its not painted yet, but it will be soon, I hope.

Anyway, I am 16 years old and I love this old truck. I hope to put some pics up soon.

All right here are some pics of the truck as it is now. I'm still working on the bed. It needs new supports and some body work. Ill get some project pics up soon.

Re: Just signed up!

Here are some pics from under the hood. The engine is the original 350 with an Edelbrock Performer Series carb. Other than that, there has been no work done to it. The '71 at the bottom is my dad's, and we're kind of using it as a parts truck right now.

Welcome to the forum. It looks like your learning a lot at a young age. Glad to see you interested in old trucks rather than new import cars.

This is so true because this truck has grown on me so much, that everywhere I go I'm looking for old trucks. I'll see one sitting in a field, have the urge to rescue it, but then I'm brought back to reality by the fact that I'm still not finished on my first project!

Here's my bed, everybody. Its gonna be a piece of work but I think I can whip back into shape. Right now I'm doing a little bit of body work on the side panels.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
