Air Dams

Looking for pics of air dams on 67-72's

I'm looking at fabbing one up to see if I can get a mpg improvement.

Here is a picture I found. I think you can buy the air dams for later model Chevy trucks. They will fit with minor mods.

I have one but doubt it gets u anymore MPG.

These were taken as I installed the new grille. It's plastic so it can mount pretty easy anywhere you like.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I'm thinkig of fabbing a larger dam from aluminum, I think it would help milage.

These small ones posted look nice, but your right, they would not effect milage.

Well I'm interested in how it gets u better MPG.

If these so called little ones don't help how in the world will a bigger one help when it will be holding more air back and making the truck push air more. I know these trucks are not the best on air dynamics so please educate me on this.
Please don't take this wrong I just like to know how.

Just another thought. The one on mine is plastic and I have hit it more times than I can remember. If you go much bigger u will be hitting it on everything if the truck is lowered.

This could be more trouble than it's worth. U will spend more time straightening it out I would think.

It would improve mpg the same way lowering a car does, by moving air over it instead of under.
I can't back it up with data, but it was suggested to me by some guys at pro-touring.com

A properly built air dam will help mileage in two ways.
Put in the right spot and low enough it creates a low pressure area behind it.
It aids aerodynamics as less high pressure air is being rammed under the vehicle.
The low pressure area behind it aids cooling. More high pressure air will flow thru the rad and out the bottom of the truck behind the dam. Better cooling, increased timing helps in mileage. Hot motors don't like lots of timing. Cooler ones do.
