change or no change?

Well I replaced my rear tranny seal today. But my pan gasket leaks.. the trans is a th350. Im not sure if its original or not. It is sitting on a new trans mount( if it makes a difference lol). The trans shifts great and pulls good.. a friend of my said I could burn it up with the fluid and filter behind changed. I know it could happen, so sometime soon im gonna replace the gasket and fluid. Any precautions I should take?

If the trans is in good shape....The fluid & filter will not hurt it.
If it's hanging on by a thread....It can go out any day

Re: change or no change?

Ive heard of it tons of times where the trans just ups and quits after a fluid & filter change, don't ask me why but it does happen. In fact it just happened to a friend of mine in his 97 chevy, never had a problem out of it... changed the filter & fluid then a month later BAM it wont go into gear.

I think I'll just stick with my manuals!

Re: change or no change?

My tranny works real good. Im tired of it leaking.. Im unsure of its maintinence life before I got it so im assuming it hasn't been serviced.
