backspacing help asap please

i have a 72 c10. i lowered it with belltech spindles so now i need wheels my front 15 inch wheels no longer fit. im ordering 17s b/c i can get free tires at work. the wheels im looking at are 17x8 with 5.25 backspace or 4.5 backspace, and for the rear 17x9 with 5 backspace or 6 backspace. since i have the 72 with the wider rear end i think i need more backspacing is that right? thanks

Re: backspacing help asap please

I would run the 5" BS on the rear 17x9 wheels,... if that's your best option.
6" BS will be too much.
Up front a 5" BS would be better for your 17x8 wheels,... so I guess choose the 4.5" BS if you have to have these wheels.

I personally, would grind your lower a-arms so your 15" wheels would work.
You never know when you will have to install the spare or other 15" wheels.

Re: backspacing help asap please

The lower control arms isn't the problem. I ground them they clear fine. The wheel is rubbing on my caliper mount on the spindle. I never seen it happen before but it is. It's ok tho I wanted different wheels just wasn't ready yet. Oh well that's life thanks for the reply

Re: backspacing help asap please

I used a 4-inch BS up front and a 5-inch BS out back, on my '69. Front wheels are 8-inches wide, while rears are 10-inches wide.
