Any Daily Drivers?
How many here use their Suburban as their primary means of transportation? I have daily driven my '70 C10 and '72 Blazer in the past, but my family has grown, so I ended up with a late model truck to accommodate. Lately, I've been thinking the money I have tied up in my '05 Yukon would buy/build a pretty nice 67-72 Sub. Just something about these old trucks... Any thoughts? Pros, cons, experiences?

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
My 68 K20 burb is my daily, I do need to finish up the interior and get the heater to crank up for the winter.
Only thing is the lack of 4th door, but it doesn't bother me too much.

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
I drive mine all year long starting to show rust bubbles under paint
I do plan on body work / painting and doing some and interior work I love the looks when driving down the highway or around town the funny thing is with the winters we have here (near Chicago) this handles better then the '99 silverado 4x4 I had before this |

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
That's what I'm talking about! How do the kids like it? My kids love my SWB, but I can only carry one passenger...

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
they both (son 9 and daughter 6) love they both agreed and nick named it BIGRED
my son acts like it is his and tells people that it will be some day, even my wife will drive it now and then as you can see in the picture (right behind me) my daughter has to act all that when se is in the burb its kinda funny and she tells me I'm a cool hotrod girl daddy. During camping season we load it up and drive about three hours west to our camp ground and I get pretty good gas mileage with it, not to mention all the thumbs up I get |

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
My 72' is now my primary truck. 05' 3/4 ton Avalanche just went down the road today. It'll be used for hauling whatever I need and has seating for 8. This winter I will be stuffing all modern drivetrain in it. So I'll have best of both worlds. Good looks and dependability. And the family loves riding in it.

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
I was hoping to have my 72 at RPL Customs in Royse City this week to turn it into my daily driver. I sold my wife's van on Saturday and was going to drop the burb off this week packed full of parts. I talked to them today and they are booked until SEMA. I am not sure what I am going to do at this point.

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
I only own old trucks, 67 sub, 70panel and just picked up a `67 long bed. The panel is my "beater", my Sub gets used if the weather is decent and i know i can park it in a safe spot when i get to where I`m going. Both are used to tow my race car. The wife drives an 86 Regal.

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
A.C.s not a problem, my Sub has Vintage air in the front and a rear unit out of an `80s truck. Seems to be even colder since the late model swap. Heat on the other hand isn`t great. There`s only front and it`s not that hot. The truck sleeps in a heated garage so usually not a problem.
My panel has original heat which is HOT, there`s no back seats but the front stays warm. It has a double rear A.C. from a `72 Sub that freezes the whole truck.

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
Here is what I sent him. I think I am going to have them notch it since I want to bag it someday. I am doing a home remodel and do not have the time or a good work area to finsih the burb quickly.
Hi Roger, Here is a list of the work I am wanting to have done. Install- Gas tank and line to fuel pump and filler hose- old tank, line, and hose have been removed ECE drop spindles CPP Transmission crossmember w/mount CPP booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve set up ECE shock relocator kit ECE super track bar kit ECE lowered front sway bar kit Tilt steering column Steering wheel (4) KYB shock Distributor and plug wires Rear wheel cylinders Rear drums Rear shoes (4) brake hoses Rotors Pads Calipers Front drop springs Rear drop springs Throttle cable Instrument bezel and lense Edelbrock throttle bracket Trailing arm bushings Front end rebuilt kit Wheel bearings swap TH350 for 700r4/ wire convertor etc Electric fans transmission cooler Carrier bearing u-joints The truck had set up for several years and it will need to have distributor dopped, timing set, valves adjusted etc. I have installed head gaskets, new intake, carb, fuel pump, water pump, etc. The motor is just a 50k miles GM 260hp crate motor that should be fine. Then depending on the budget I need some rust repair done to front floor boards and rockers and misc other work. I am going to see if I can find temporary transportation to hold me over until you are available. I attached some pics of what you would be working with. Thanks, Kevin

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
Here is one that is a little high priced. I am sure the price will come down the longer it is for sale. Be a good deal at $3500.http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/3337637256.html

Re: Any Daily Drivers?
I just did the opposite trip this past Sunday, I towed a 67 pickup from Richmond VA. back to Brooklyn, NY. To bad we couldn`t have worked something out.
