71 GMC help
Hello I am new member and also a new owner of a 71 GMC short bed truck and had a few questions regarding body panels. Reading a thread the other day a guy pointed out that the fenders on GMC are the same from 67-72 so it got me thinking could I use a hood from a 67 or 68 on my truck. realize it is a pretty silly or stupid question but I have very little experience with these trucks.
Thanks in advance |

Re: 71 GMC help
From Pa
The fenders from a 67-68 Chevy will work on your truck and maybe the hood too, 69-72 front sheet medal it way different. the only stupid question is the one not asked. Also pics from your truck would be cool (we Love Pics) and like always this board is a wealth of info. If you have not tried all ready at the top of your screen click the circle that says 67-72chevytrucks.com and hit the Google button and you can search for anything that was talked about on the great forum

Re: 71 GMC help
Yes you can use the 67-68 (Slant Nose) hood. You just have to remove the grill top bar and eyebrows to make it fit right. Which means you'll want to fill the holes in the fenders for the eye brows as well. If you do a quick search on here I'm sure you'll find all the info you need.

Re: 71 GMC help
Forgot to add, you also need a filler panel that goes on the top of the grille. There are some good pictures in this thread:
