Since I have a 69 El Camino, I visit the Chevelle site on Chevy Talk a lot. The members are pretty good but you have to watch which segment you are in as nothing is allowed for sale on the talk board. I have seen messages deleted just for asking where to buy something in a certain way. (You have to be very general). Other than that the members give good advice and are very knowledgeable.

Honestly I don't spend anytime on the Chevelle boards...just doesn't seem to be as good as this one. If I did it would be www.chevelles.com

Chevelle's are cool!
My wife was at a yard sale the yesterday and saw one (a 66 Chevelle Malibu hardtop) sitting behind the house. She asked the old woman there if it was for sale and she said she would take $2000 for it. My wife asked her what size engine was in it and the old woman said.."my husband used to say it had a 4-something in it...but I can't remember now...". Unfortunately my wife don't know squat about old cars (or trucks) to pursue it any further. The last thing I had on my mind was scooping up another project (until after I finished the truck)...but I think I had better go and take a look at it...just in case. The old womans "4-something..." has got my curiosity going. |

Sounds like I had better go check it out, eh?
I hope the old woman was not thinking '4-banger'...heh heh heh. miket: I went and looked at you awesome website...and saw your 66...VERY, VERY COOL! You swapped from the original motor over to the current one? I see 427 in your siggie here..but 454 at the Chevelle's page. So I'm confused....which is not unusual, LOL! I really like the car...I bet that Dominator gets excellent MPG's, eh? Anyway, a question: After my wife told me about the car she saw, I started looking around on the 'net for more info...but could only find where the 66's came with SBC's or a 396 in the SS versions. Did Chevrolet put a '4-something' (427/454, ect) in the 66...or would this be a PO swap? Or is it possible that it could be a dealer install, ala Yenko, Baldwin Motion, Berger ??? I'm clueless about these older Chevelles. |

I think its a swap if it has a 4 something, they did make the odd 427 chevelle in 66, but extremely rare

I called the woman today and her son was there....he said it has a 402 (396) but not original to the car, and not an SS. I asked him about the trans, but all he knew was "turbo"..heh heh. He said it has not been driven for a long time...and is not sure if it will run or not. Maybe I can take a peek at it today or tomorrow and see what's up. Lord, I need to hit the lottery. Ed McMahon, where are you????
