Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Today I finished removing the rivets I wanted out of the replacement frame section.
It never gets any easier no matter how many rivets I remove and these were double tough since its a 3/4 ton frame and its double plated. Here are some Pics. |

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
I havent posted an update in awhile as you all know so I will fill you in on the project status.
I haven't replaced the rear suspension frame section yet, the project is still where it was at last update nothing has changed. Right now the project is on hold mainly due to lack of funds, also since the entire project is being done outside weather is a factor and since im in kansas winter is officialy here and I wont be getting any more work done untill spring so I will be saving up some cash and get back on it in the spring when the weather is nice. See you guys in the spring, until then Brian out. |

Unexpected update.
My tight money situation unexpectedly just got resolved, so the project is back on full steam ahead again. Time to order some truck parts! Also I'm considering going to a different level with the restomod. Stay tuned lots of exciting stuff comming soon! |

I will give you a sneak peek at one of the upgrades I'm going to be doing. While researching some upgrades that I can do to modernize the functionality and drivability of the C10 I ran across a factory option that I absolutely can't live without. K30 = Speed and Cruise Control So I'm wondering what was the first year this was available on the C10 as an option, if anyone knows please share. There is also an aftermarket unit available for those of you who are like me and cant live without it. Here is the link for the unit incase anyone is interested. http://www.classicindustries.com/tru.../crs20003.html More to come stay tuned... |

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Ok so after more research it appears that cruise control became available as an option in 1969.
Also I forgot to mention in the above post that the aftermarket Cruise Control unit above is made by Dakota Digital. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...d=46/prd46.htm Last edited by Xeen; 12-19-2012 at 01:59 PM. |

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
I havent had any parts to put on it untill recently and im still gathering parts. The cold weather and no garage are working against me and it may be spring before there are any new pickup pics.
However there will be tons of pics of new parts as I buy them. |

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Yeah man as soon as I saw that I was like I MUST have that.
Driving a truck without cruise control is like playing 18 holes of Golf with only a 9 Iron and a Putter, its amusing at first but quickly becomes tiresome. |

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
I wanted to take a few minuites to talk about the Forever Sharp Steering Wheel I got for Christmas from my Wife.
It is rare you get your moneys worth out of a aftermarket product these days, it always seems like there is something wrong with it, it doesnt fit as expected, its poor quality, poor craftsmanship, a poor finish or something else equally as dissapointing. I usually am not impressed enough with something to bother with an endorsement but I'm here to tell you I am very impressed with this product, it is well made, heavy duty, it has a beautiful finish, the wood is top notch, the construction is excellent, I mean you can't ask for a nicer steering wheel and at $145 USD with all necessary hardware included to instal this beauty it gets two thumbs up on bang for your buck. Product rating. Construction: 10 Finish: 10 Initial quality: 10 Price: 10 Satisfaction: 10 I give this product a 10 out of 10 overall. I highly recommend you buy this product line of steering wheels for your truck. |
