Having a hard time finding 2" headers for my 496. Found some Sanderson 1 7/8th which might have to do but would really like to find some 2" for my 600hp beast!

Boy....that's really not all that bad for 2". I've seen them in the $800 range for smaller ones. The sandersons are $350 but only 1 7/8ths.

My build keeps becoming not so much a "budget" build! lol

Hooker 2455's with BBC towers. You have to do something with trans crossmember though. I'll post some pics later.

That would be great. What kind of head are you running? It's saying they are for a rec port head. I'm assuming they don't mean intake! ;o)

I think what's going to be expensive is hiring someone to clean up my hardwood floor where I sheet all over it! Thanks for the heart attack Gary! I do like the look they provide though.

there is no budget build when it come too bbc's it seems everything Bbc costs alot

but you gotta hand it too gary those lemon's headers are sweet lil' pricey but sweet

Feel free to check out my thread. My 67 shortwide. I used Hookers HOK-2455-1HKR. I had to modify my motor mounts for the drivers side, but Badbowtie used them with stock mounts with no problems.

Get yourself some Hedman Elites #68196 (Chevelle/fullsize car), they are super heavy duty and fit high and tight in the framerails - and they're very nicely made. Nothing hangs below the 'rails, actually. They ran $376 shipped from StreetsideAuto.com. They are 1.75" x 3", but for 600hp you really don't need 2", but most people run them just because they think they have to have them. These are what I have and I'm also running a 600hp (or dang near it) BBC, it's a 468" and was built to peak around 6800 rpm.

There is not one person that has told me I can get away with 1.75's on this 496. It's just too restrictive. Granted, they will bolt up but I will loose a ton of top end. The exhaust shop, Brodix, Lunati and everyone else said a MINIMUM of 1 7/8th.

I'm running Hooker Super Comps for a 70-72 Chevelle on my BB 502 and I'm currently over 600hp. They tuck pretty good but you will have to watch the trans cross member...I think Bowtie468 has pics on his build page.

I have a tall deck 427 block moved back 1" from the bb holes and I run the Hooker 2841's. I had to move one tube on the drivers side to clear the a-arm. With a standard deck block they should fit pretty well. I ordered mine raw then had them coated after I modified them. My 525 ci(427 b&s) has somewhere around 650 hp. I think these would work well for you.

It really depends on the rpm, keep that in mind too - are you planning on spinning it over 6k? I don't think you would lose a ton of top end, if any at all. 600hp is kind of the break point for 1.75". Plenty of big inch small blocks make over that with a 1.75", but yes I understand you have a BB. But again, if you want something that fits really well and it costs you 5-10hp (which I'm not sure it would) it may be worth the trade. Maybe call some header mfg's and see what they say? Are you building a street truck or a dragster?

I am super stoked. You can't see them unless you are on your knees! The pic of the collector makes them look way worse than they are. My control arms are still lower and I have tons of ground clearance.

No and they don't need to be. I have a ton of ground clearance with these. They do hang down a little which makes it easier for me to clear the stock trans crossmount. My truck is not in the weeds.
