68 GMC 2500 $6K on CL- Good deal?
Blinded by the 66,000 miles and the 99% rust free body.....am I about to pay too much?
Loaded and in great shape....350 engine with a/c, p/s, p/b etc. Help me decide.

Looks like a sweet truck. I will let others jump in on possible value.

Re: 68 GMC 2500 $6K on CL- Good deal?
Rust free is everything to me.... doesn't sound bad at all.
Cash talks so you could probably get them down some but it's all original so it hasn't been messed with.

Re: 68 GMC 2500 $6K on CL- Good deal?
It's not a '68 from the pictures you show. What hood is on it? Appears to be a '69. Look it over for hidden rust,as advised. Take a phillips head to remove the sill plates. There could be rust the seller isn't aware of and if they are pricing it based on lack of rust they shouldn't mind you removing the sill plates. It won't hurt a thing.

Re: 68 GMC 2500 $6K on CL- Good deal?
Without seeing the truck, that doesn't sound bad. I know you can find cheaper deals in Texas, but this nice? The rust down there usually means possible cowl rust and/or drip rail,so look all that over closely

Original California truck...owned by this guy since 1976....moved to Oklahoma in 1997....Original exhaust manifolds included, (headers on it now) smog pump...etc.
Thought $5K would be much better but we might be able to meet in the middle.

You would probably get more opinions if you posted exterior photos as well.

Re: 68 GMC 2500 $6K on CL- Good deal?
I would go $5k if it is in as good a shape as it looks. Does the AC work?

Here is the CL ad with more exterior pictures...can't get them to size big enough to post here.

Re: 68 GMC 2500 $6K on CL- Good deal?
My opinion is if it had 66k mi
1. The door wouldn't be so marked up at the bottom 2. The drivers seatbelt would retract back into the cover 3. can't see it but the steering wheel would have the rough pattern/grain on it still 4. I dont think the bottom seat cover wouldn't be so torn, Thats from up and down movement of corse its hard to tell and it depends on how the people treated it. If its rust free or almost it sounds like a good deal.

Re: 68 GMC 2500 $6K on CL- Good deal?
6K is about double what that would sell for here in So Cal. I do not know about Texas though. Good luck with whatever you decide.

That truck could fetch $6k in Texas but it wouldn't be a quick sell.

It could probably bring $5-6K in NC too. Just because rust free is very rare in these parts.

Re: 68 GMC 2500 $6K on CL- Good deal?
He has owned it since like 1973 so I assume he knows how many miles it has and is being honest.
He did find some small rust in the drivers kick panel...$5500 is the price right now...thinking I will go back to him at $5K and see if I can make a deal.
