need clutch help for t5 behind 1971 c10 250
hi all,
I apologize as i know there a million threads on the T5 swaps into older engines. Sadly thats why i am confused lol! i have a stock 6 cylinder 250 with a stock bellhousing, clutch fork, and 3 speed manual transmission all original from a 1971 c10. i have a T5 from a 91 S10 - tho i dont know if it is out of a 4 cyl or 6 cyl S10. From what I can tell the 4 cyl S10 uses a 9 1/4 in clutch while the 6 cyl uses a 10.5 in clutch. i have been told i can use the stock C10 bellhousing but i need an adapter to compensate for the input shaft length. then i was told i DONT need an adapter since I have a truck bellhousing? i dont mind if i need one - just want to be sure. lastly - i am confused as to what size clutch to get. i am unsure of my stock flywheel if it is 168 or 153. can anyone clarify if i need the adapter and what clutch size to get? trying to get started on this. thanks for any help - jason |

Yes, you will need the adapter. Check my post (#3) in this thread and click on the link I posted also. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=434512 Be sure and read the whole thread. LockDoc
