Anyone have some 12 bolt knowledge to share with me?

I gotta 1970 12 bolt and was wondering if the housing is the same as an 83 12 bolt. length, tube size, and carrior bearings?

I'm not 100% sure. But the internals may be the same, but the axle tubes are wider on the 83. I'm sure someone will chime in that has more info.

oh and welcome to the board

welcome from Texas...i think you would have problems unless your truck has leaf springs. and the newer one should be wider like barryb said.

Re: Anyone have some 12 bolt knowledge to share with me?

It is definitely wider. they changed in 71 to 1.5" wider. I dont think much has changed since then but the best place to ask is a driveline/rearend shop. They could tell you all the specifics for whatever year and rear
