air bag question

i really want to bag my square, is it worth to bag it if i still want to keep my inner wells? how big of wheels etc can i go with bags and not remove the inner wheel wells? anyone have pictures?

How low are you planning? I have 16s and static dropped six inches up front and run the wheel wells.

im somewhere around 5 or 6" with 29" tires and i rub. even with 27" tires you wont get close to laying frame

You can air bag a truck and keep the inter fenders.Take a look at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=345024&page=2 His won't lay frame but will get pretty low if that's what your looking for.

you need to remove your inner fenderwells, it'll hit.

there are a number of ways to make new fenderwells, from trailer fenders (orange with flames) to full custom sheetmetal.

or many of us dont even run inner frenderwells.

just depends on you in the long run..

im not really looking to lay frame i just want to be able to get the lowest possible with out removing my inner wheel wells

What's your reason or fear of removing the inner fenders?

N2Trux's square body is a good example of how low you can go with stock fender wells. Your aired out height will be lower than a static drop. If you remove your fender wells, then your next limiting factor up front will be the crossmember.

Go out to your truck now,... and measure how much room you have above your front tires.
That is all you will be able to lower it.
Alot of static dropped trucks have issues with stock inner fenders.

Bagging it will gain you nothing unless you do something with the inner fenders.

if you plan on bagging it with inner fenders you'd probably be wasting your time, as most of us here have learned we are never satisfied with how low our trucks are, if your unsatisfied with your static and want to bag for a couple inches, soon you'll wish you just went to the frame, its the reason i havent bagged mine yet, its rocker or nothing

i understand what you guys are saying, i just got done putting a 5.3 in it, im going with white for paint and i got my whole engine bay painted before i dropped the motor in. i just would hate to remove the inners and pretty much get the white all dirty from the road but hey i dunno...lol

Pretty valid reason I suppose. Guess you need to weigh what's more important, a clean firewall or how low can you go?

I think the best options are the Slosh Tubz or making your own with trailer fenders, etc. Maybe leave your stock inner fender well, and just modify the top to allow for the wheel to come up farther. I tried finding a picture, but I am thinking maybe just cut the top and have the trailer fender welded in there. I have seen it before and maybe someone knows where to find a picture of it.

I cut my control arms with stock spindles.
My bags sit lower than if you would use a cup
And I still have my inner fenders in tact I'm running
15/7 inch rims with a 255/60 size tire and it looks good
I don't sit frame didn't want to

I think if you just want to bag it and drive it and keep the fenders for obvious reasons the do so. If this is a show truck and you want to be low remove the fenders. I feel that there's an easier way to build inner fenders if need be. You have to decide what you really want. To me keeping your inner fenders isn't hindering you from being low. You'll be low for your standard. Good luck.

Good point Travis. Actually you will have two limiting factors come together at one time. You can remove, modify or replace the inner fenders but this gets you to your next obstacle.

The factory a/c is now subject to being destroyed unless you go with a very low profile tire. If you decide to eliminate the factory a/c then your crossmember hits the ground before you can go any further.

For point of reference, the pics below show my truck with totally stock inner fenders. I have the custom bumpstops removed in these pics up front. In the rear, the stops keep the pumpkin about 3/4" away from the bed.

But I drive it every weekend and it rides smooth
And for me it didn't mess with my alignment or nothing
Just make sure you change your bushings and
Ball joints it makes a difference.
