Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Didn't get much done. I put together the dash that will be in it temporarily. I put the speaker panels back in. They will be painted the blue body color. And I did sand some more on the firewall so its ready to be wiped down and painted.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks Matt. It is pretty nice but it does have a few spots that need attention. The lower kick panels. Someone put some caulking or something over them and it needs cleaned out. i think theres some rust there. The a pillars are solid though. I have a piece on the pass. side door opening at the bottom where another poor repair was attempted. I have to cut part of the weather strip lip out and replace it. I have a new rocker for that little piece though.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I like what you have for a speaker box in the cab corner. I plan on doing something similar when I get that far. What are you planning on doing with the firewall? Are you smoothing it or just cleaning it up and putting te stock box back in?

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks Jimmy. I will just be spray bombing it. I am putting Vintage Air on the truck and am going to use the plastic firewall cover that comes with the kit. This truck is not going to be a show truck or I would do more to it. I will try to get it painted tomorrow but I still have Christmas shopping to do for the wifey.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Thanks guys. I made two steps forward and one back today. I got the firewall all painted. And put the brake booster back on and the lines connected. I got the ac/heater block-off plate sealed and on. I noticed that my radiator has the outlet for a heater hose so I needed to put a plug in my water pump. I proceeded to put it in and it was so easy and didn't tighten up but my pump cracked. I guess I don't know my own strength lol. Went and got another one. Painted it cast aluminum because I didn't have any orange left. I got it all put back together and also put my ps belt on. Tomorrow I'll put some stuff back together on the firewall. Whew! long write up huh? Heres some pics. Sorry they suck but its hard to get a good pic w/a cheap camera.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

That engine bay is lookin' CLEAN! Bum deal about the water pump, but at least it was a pretty easy fix.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

If you had a NOS one, it would probably outlast both of us, but this Chinese stuff nowadays, you gotta try multiples out before you get one that will work.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Yeah it was weird too. I just was turning it thinking it'll get tight in a second and I just happen to look down and saw it. The first pump had a thin casting and it broke easy. This one was a surprise. Oh well its taken care of now and I can put that behind me. I just hope it works good after I fire it up.

So what I need to do before fire up can take place:
oil line for pressure gauge
heater hose
fluids
put more ground straps on
put more bolts in fenders
buy a battery
