nbs wheels on my 88

i just got a set of 17" stocks off of my cousins 06 with tires for $40 and i was wanting to put them on so i dont kill my boggers. the question is can i run aftermarket lugnuts with stock rims? i dont wanna mess them up or anything and dont wanna spend more on lugnuts. heres a pic with two of my lug nuts on the wheel. (no i didnt drive it like that) can i just run these for a bit and just not run the center caps?

I'd say no. Looks like you need stock nuts or you're going to ruin the rims. Get 'em cheap at a junkyard, or Oreillys or whatever you have local. Junkyard would be your best bet pricewise, but iirc they're less than $3ea new from the parts store.

They should, as long as they're stock replacement type with the correct bevel where they contact the wheel. I think. I'm running '09 Escalade wheels on a '91 K2500, and '03 ish GMC wheels on a '93 Yukon, both with stock OBS lugs for the stock aluminum wheels. Those lugs you pictured look like aftermarket for a different style wheel?

Re: nbs wheels on my 88

I don't see why you can't run aftermarket lug nuts, those look like aftermarket wheels but regardless just need to know what style the lugs are.

If those wheels are stock then did they use the conical seat style? or the mag style?

I'd say most likely conical seat style like alot of others.

If the rims are aftermarket find out who made them and check online for those wheels new and see if you can find info.

If not then just look at what lug nuts he ran when he had em.

If they are the tapered down end that;s conical seat if they are flat and long which usually require washers and go thru the rim those are mag style lugs.

Re: nbs wheels on my 88

The only difference is steel wheels need lug nuts for steel wheels and aluminum wheels use different nuts. Basically the flange is different so the wheels don't crack etc. If they are the same flange size as stock and your going alloy to alloy wheels should be fine. Just my 2 cents.
