well its under there now. had to drill extra hole where top a arm bolted to frame, that was the only mod to get the 87 1 ton carriage bolted up.moving on now to next step. oh and the steering is hooked up with the purchase of new tie rod ends,es409l inners and es409r outers,es2004s sleeves through orilleys master pro. using 70 ps box and center link.

I am doing a C20 Longhorn which, I believe, has the same frame. I chose to just use a kit that had 71 ball joints, tie rods and spindles.

Re: 1970 c30 disc brake swap

that may have been my best bet but i already had the undercarriage. i want to put a diesel in this truck so bad but dont think my budget will allow it. i have a 454 already built on the test stand ready for my truck. But i would like to put a diesel in it,but finding a good cheap diesel , not sure of what my options are on diesel motors. i know i cant just run out and buy a cummins or duramax.ive had them both in other trucks factory and liked them both but i'm not sure of other diesel motors out there that i may be able to pick up reasonable for this truck. i do pull with this truck. i just toiok the vortec 350 out of it. boy, if anybody had any advice or insight on this it would help.

Re: 1970 c30 disc brake swap

Nice job on your brake swap. Having a late model intercooled diesel would be cool, but it's not quite as cheap a junkyard swap as your brakes. Plenty of 6.2 and 6.5 diesels out there for not much $, but don't expect common rail performance out of them. But they are a pretty easy swap and not a lot of money if you must have a diesel. But the 454 is probably a better choice IMO.

I'm going to agree with you on that. It would be nice to have a newer style diesel in the truck, but I already have the 454 built, and I really like the big blocks, so that's going to be the choice for now. Thanks for all input.
