Buddy seat for 71 blazer?

I need to make more seating in my 71 k5 and want to try to make that look as original as possible. I want to replace my buckets and center console set up with a buddy seat with storage in center seat. My question would a 68 or 71 c10 buddy seat bolt up? Would anyone have one available. I'm new to this forum, so hopefully I'm doing this right... Thanks

Re: Buddy seat for 71 blazer?

Buddy bucket seats are from 67-68, but they will bolt into 69-72 trucks without a hitch. I have seen them in burbs, but never a blazer. I would guess you shouldn't have a problem.

Re: Buddy seat for 71 blazer?

They definitely won't be a direct bolt in. The bolt patterns in the floor of the blazer are different than the trucks. It will dimensionally fit in the front of a Blazer, but new holes will have to be drilled.

So two issues to deal with are:

1) The center buddy seat does not have a fixed back. It's meant to rest on the back of the cab. So you'd have to fab something up to keep it from folding all the way back.

2) The torsion boxes of the Blazer will be covering some of the holes you'll need to drill in the floor for the buddy seat. You may be able to unbolt the rear covers to gain access to the areas where the new holes will have to be drilled to reinforce that area.

There may be other options that may work better for you? There's a lot of good info on this site about people adapting different seats into Blazers. Good luck!

Re: Buddy seat for 71 blazer?

Growing up my family drove a 2wd 73 Blazer, had a factory backseat, and a 50/50 split bench in the front from an Oldsmobile car of some sort. This seat was mounted on factory rails I believe, I dont remember any drama with mounting, we gained an extra seating position, and either end of the front seat folded downwards at an angle. Getting into the back as kids was easy, dont know how elegant an adult could do it though.

Thank you... I like the buddy seat again for the Convience on not totally losing my center console... I will keep looking for any options.

Thanks Eric, a 50/50 fold would be okay... I will look. Thanks for the idea. I have only seen this type of double folding seat at a show.

Re: Buddy seat for 71 blazer?

The seat backs are fixed on most of them, so entering the rear may prove problematic. Maybe look for a separate jump seat style console you can use with your stock buckets

Re: Buddy seat for 71 blazer?

No help from me on the seat, but I think our Blazers are brothers.
It now has the stock grill.

Nice ride. Good luck on the seat!

Thanks for the suggestion, there is such a thing a "jump seat"?
I've only heard of those for boats...

That's actually a great idea. You could keep your original front buckets and just add the jump seat. If you had it redone in vinyl like buckets, it could look somewhat like it belonged there.

Google Chevy truck jump seat for more examples. Looks like you're about 11 months too late on this one.
