Who is still Topless?

Who is still running topless? I live in Annapolis Md and it has been a mild winter so far. I have not be able to assemble a couple buddies to help put the top back on. Thinking of leaving it off! I am lucky and have been able to keep under cover, plus it is suppose to be in the upper 50's over the weekend.

Re: Who is still Topless?

That's a nice looking truck.

I would love to be able to run topless, but with almost two feet of snow between Christmas and New Year's, and with overnight lows hovering close to zero and highs struggling to hit the 20s, it's been a little rough around here lately.

Re: Who is still Topless?

No top here in central Fl. Blasted around Sunday afternoon for a couple of hrs..
Low to mid 70's. Tshirt, shorts, flip-flops. There's an industrial area near the airport here which is deserted on Sundays & holidays. Good place to burn tire and make noise.

Re: Who is still Topless?

When I fixed up this K/5 I told myself I would not put the top back on...ever. I still haven't, although I still own the top. It precludes me from driving when it rains and I avoid driving when it's cold, at night, etc.

But, I remember when I had a 4Runner and never wanted to hassle with taking the top off and, therefor, it was almost never off...

Besides, removing and installing the top almost always involves scratching the paint...

I'd help you lift it off.. but I'm old n' puny. Heavy "bastids" ain't no fun for two guys. I made a hoist with a cheap electric winch from HARBOR FREIGHT. Don't use it much. I've had the Blazer for a year and a half and only had the top on it for about 3 weeks right after I bought it. It's a fair weather toy.
I'm thinking about going to the Canal St. show in New Smyrna today, weather's supposed to be nice. About 30mi. from you in Deltona and about the same for me. Nice show with a lot of interesting stuff. My only complaint is that you have to get there about noon to get a decent parking space.

Re: Who is still Topless?

Decided to take my dogs up to the mountains by my house on New Years Day.

Turned out great other than a brisk wind. Went up with the top up, took it down on the way back-and now it sits in my garage waiting for some snow to fall in town (probably wont happen).

Of course now that its so cold out, I doubt the top will stretch enough to go back up anyways unless I crank the heat up in the garage. So I'll just leave it off until absolutely necessary.

Re: Who is still Topless?

I needed to rearrange my garage tonight, so I decided the soft top needed to go back up. Anyone else love fighting that process when its below 30 degrees out? Took over an hour of idling with the heater cranked, and then lots of foul words and very sore thumbs to get all the snaps finally in place.

Re: Who is still Topless?

I did put the little soft top on a couple of months ago when it was really rainy. BIG PITA to put on and I think it's ugly.... does keep some rain out though.

Re: Who is still Topless?

I finally rounded enough help to put the top back on. I also installed the spare tire rack that I got from Tom at Pro Trucks. I did drive the K5 around all day yesterday before we put the top on. It was a great day.

Re: Who is still Topless?

Had a great spin around town today. Being in Seattle area, it's been raining for what seems like 2 months straight, finally a little sun peaked through. Still needed gloves and heavy coat but totally worth it! Stopped at the bank drive through, had to get out to get to the cash machine, guy behind me yells out...."sweet ride, light it up on the way out!".....made me laugh.

Bouncy......hope you got out today as well!

Re: Who is still Topless?

I had a small electrical fire a couple weekends ago due to a 35 year old POWERED wire that was once hooked up to a rear mounted electric fuel pump. Now my tach doesnt work, dash/dome lights only work with the key on, and I cant find any dead fuses.

Once I sort this out, top comes back off for some driving fun. Maybe I'll get around to it tomorrow.

Re: Who is still Topless?

Here's a link to some pictures from our club's show last Saturday in Titusville Fl. The last two pictures are looking eastward across Indian river at Kennedy Space Center. About half of our members are "SNOWBIRDS", they show up after Thanksgiving and go back up north around April.

According to that groundrat, it's going to be turning spring soon. No need to put the top back on.

Thanks, I bought it off the classified on this site about a year and a half ago. I've put about 6,000mi. on it and run it HARD every chance I get. It has been a pleasure w/very few problems. I still want a half top for it, mainly for the A/C when it's hot.
