1972 C-10 Build Sheet - Need help decoding....

Hi All -

Still fairly new here and I am trying to read and learn as much as possible. This forum is the best and the vast knowledge blows my mind. So, I am in the process of rebuilding the truck and would like to restore to factory colors / trim / interior / etc. I just got it about 6 months ago. Still don't know if it's rare or has rare options. Has a toolbox built into the bed. Never saw that before.

Here is my build sheet....NOTE: The original dealership is still in business and mailed me (2) licence plates and trim...how cool is that??? Once I get the truck completed (and install the licence plate) I will get some professional pictures done up for them....still a ways to go!!!

OK, I want to get the interior going. I have pleather bench seat and plastic door panels. Truck had black carpet with like 2 layers under it..was original. It was starting to decay and stink so I gutted it. I would like to go back with original combo. I see a code of 611 (last code on build sheet). Does anyone have this same seat color and know where I can buy the materials to redo my bench seat? What color do you think the door panels where, white?

Somebody stopped me a few months ago and said, "I haven't seen a Highlander in 40 years." From what you see do I have a Highlander? It says Custom Deluxe.

I will post some pictures when I get it out of the shop....getting engine done.

Sorry for rambling.

Jim

Yes, Your truck is a Highlander trim truck. Do you have a SPID to post?
Here is my Highlander blurb and a picture to give an idea.

Highlander Plaid was a trim only option based on Z62 or Z84 (Blazer only) optioned vehicle. In addition promo packages A,B and C were offered that bundled several options in addition to the Plaid trim. Thus a promo package truck was a Highlander but a Highlander was NOT ALWAYS a promo package equipped truck.

Highlander trim codes
All include black dash pad, steering column (with or without tilt) and carpet. In addition the door panels, visors, console (Blazer only) and seat belts were parchment (white). Seat vinyl was also parchment and the insert color is determined by the specific code. So the only variable color keyed component was the insert color of the seatcovers.

Thank you SS Tim, that is exactly what I was looking for.

I will post the SPID when I get the truck out of the shop.

PO replaced door panels, seat & mirrors....and the door panels don't fit good at all (looks cheap). I do have the parchment visors, seat belts, had the tri-pod looking mirrors (may go back to that....I sort of like the old look). Still has the original hub caps. I'm rolling in style...lol...love the truck though!!!

Your truck has a very nice blend of options. Some are not usually seen together. This would be a good truck to return to "as built" condition. While many people add a rear chrome bumpers, yours was optioned with them in addition to a wood bed floor, tool box, cargo lamp and rear leaf springs. Added in were V-8/TH350, gauges, P/S, P/B and A/C. Plus the uplevel trim and the deluxe two-tone make for a very sharp looking truck.

Re: 1972 C-10 Build Sheet - Need help decoding....

It will take me some time to get it back to where it was. Wood bed is still intact, some of the wood has fallen out. PO welded diamond plate over the wood floor. That will be coming out soon. A/C was gutted, will install aftermarket kit this spring. Everything under the hood has been replaced. New 350 crate engine with new TH350 trans....its coming along. In the shop now getting everything dialed in. The California emissions stuff is long gone. PO also painted over the Medium Blue with a slightly darker blue (exerior only) Interior is still Medium.

I've been concentrating on making it safe (start and stop). I should have it back within the next week.

I never seem to have time and money at the same time.

I will post some pictures as I go.

Do you happen to know where I could get the fabric for the Blue Plaid Seat?

Thanks
Jim

Here is a pic of the SPID - Does this look like a Highlander Truck to you?
Here is also another pic of the truck.

Without a doubt that is a Highlander trim truck. Beautiful and well equipped as well. Even the wheel covers look correct. As I said earlier your truck has a lot of options not seen together often on a C10. The installed tires were L78-15/B Highway Tread White Stripe (RPO Q14).
