Suspension dilemma

Hey guys I need your expertise please. Im working on a 56 chevy pickup. I have the lowered straight axle in it now. And im sitting really low 3 inch ground clearance from the bottom of the axle to the ground. My dilemma is im thinking of adding power steering and disc brakes and driving it like that. Or install a camaro front clip. A guy I know builds these trucks. He will install the clip, column, brake booster and pedals for $800. I can get a clip from him for $300. I already have the colum. The ifs kits are out of my price range right now. $2000-2600 for the kits and $800 for installation I just cant swing that right now. I want to drive my truck and fix it as I go. Please help with my problem lol. Thank you guys

if he knows what he is doing then that seems to be the way to go if he will get you a complete clip for 300 and install it for 800. Sounds like a good deal. I bought the tci kit for mine and did it with a friend. Not a bad install as long as you know how to measure and have a good welder. Good luck.

If you want to drive it anytime soon don't blow it apart. Upgrade the brakes and enjoy it. I was in the same dilemma and I opted for the clip. Of course Im doing it on my spare time but it never stops at doing just the clip. It usually opens a can of worms and next thing you know it's 5 years later with your truck blown apart getting a full revamp. On the other hand I am not sure if that buddy is desperate or crazy for doing all that work for $800. tell him to have at it but I would be wary at that price cause anyone who has done em knows there's more then $800 worth of labor there.

I agree with you guys. Ive seen his work and its very good. He builds about 15-20 of these a year so hes all set up. I would like to keep the lowered straight axle in it cuz its just cool. But people tell me im crazy for wanting that cuz its going to ride like crap and steer like crap. But then people tell me it wont be too bad. So im stumped lol. A disc brake kit is $250 and booster is $200. And not sure how to do the power steering.
