Really like the tilt bed idea.
I had that years back on my mini truck.
Are you going to have a "latch down system" to prevent bed chatter?

the plan is to have the front mount in rubber so it wont chatter. thats the plan at this point

We are putting the floor frame in now.Hope to have it in and tilted today.Its all got tobe tied in from front to back.Looks awesome.I will have casey take some more pix.

Well today was a big day in the garage. My dad and I built a frame for the floor/tilt bed.
The reason for the tilt bed on this truck is because there is know way we could get the rear tires off with the bed on.
We tried to jack the body way up and unbolt the coilovers to let the rear end down and there was just no way to get
the bed high enough with the 31 inch tall tire that's 18.5 wide.
There are a few pieces of metal that are tack welded on the
front that are just there so we could set the bed on the frame in the front without it going to low.

here are some pictures from today. what do you guys think.

Man, I just love that truck. Every picture from every angle turns me on. The stance, the chopped roof is done perfectly, and the whole look and attitude of that thing is just outstanding. Nice fabricating throughout too.

Casey i am running a 33x21/15 on a 14" rim ,a good question on how to get the wheels off

i built the bed with a frame and four bolts hold it on.not to bad to remove but wish it was a tilt like your

Very nice set of photos !!
With the bed tilting like that, you could skirt the rear fender wells, or shave them completely....

Thanks. We took 4 inches out of the top and cut the windshield down 4 inches. On a 64 the curve on the glass is not bad. It only took two windshields to get a good one,Thank god. We used two cabs so we could cut down on the welds. Because of the angles of the roof you have to add metal both directiions.By using two cabs we only had one weld down the ctr and one across the top.We also used two doors to save a weld. The doors had to get longer at the top. So instead of 4 welds we had 3 welds.

Thanks. It has been along time in the making. I just like it when Hot Rods set on a rake. The bigger the rear tires the better.

Thanks. Not sure on the color yet. I should have the frame painted this spring. Oh and the welds that look awesome, are done by Casey G my son.

very cool truck, & glad to see you both working on it together...my dad started a '66 chop top build in the early '90s, with intentions of making it a Pro-street...unfortunately life got in the way, & it never got finished...he still has everything but the bed...lately he's gotten the bug to look for a rolling chassis to work with...I'd love to see it all come together & have plans to finish it myself someday if he doesn't. Ya'll keep up the good work

Thanks. Casey and I are on a roll now. I think it will roll on its own power this summer. I work 10 to 12 hours a day for the last 20 years so its tuff to come home and just start working on the truck. Now that I have heat in the garage and winter is here, its starting to come together now. I hope you can finish your Dad's truck someday. That would be cool.
