Blow my horn

This is what I have:
Hella Twin Tone Horn without instructions.
Was hoping to replace the horn on my 71 Chev truck
but not sure how to add that little do-hickey in the middle?
My old setup doesn't have one.
Is it a relay of some kind?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Blow my horn

I'm guessing the horns connects to the relay (which are connected to the positive side of my battery) and the relay also connects to a ground?

take a look here. They are showing lights, but your horns would go there in the diagram. the wire from the switch would be your stock horn wire.

Re: Blow my horn

Just thinkin here, If he uses the trucks stock wiring why would he need the relay. The truck has a horn relay already.

I was hoping it would but it didn't. (plug and play)
This new horns have two terminals each coming off of them where as my old horns have only one each.
Didn't think it would matter but I guess it does.
And thanks for the help/diagram guys.
Now it's time for me to get busy...

As Ol Blue K20 said, your truck does have one. It is under the dash, on the left side of the steering column. I think the wires to the plug are Red, Green, & Black. Red is power, Black is ground, and Green goes to the horn.

Re: Blow my horn

Your stock relay is under the dash, the stock horns grounded thru the mounting bracket.
Most likely the Hellas Need to be grounded thus two terminals

Re: Blow my horn

one wire on the horn will need to go to ground one will go to 12 volt source, i think they can be mounted on plastic cars we have today that is why the extra ground on each horn plus then you would know its grounded good...

Wink Re: Blow my horn

I would say one terminal is Hot and the other ground. take the singal wire that's in the truck and hook it to one of them and put a jumper on it and see.
No need for the relay in the picture it's already wired into the truck harness.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
