Wipers stop at top

I've been looking all over but can't find a solution for our year trucks. I've been having tons of wiper problems on my 83 C10. The biggest now is that the wiper park mechanism is stopping the wipers at the top of their stroke every time I turn them off. Anyone know where this problem is originating? Some years have a part of the park mechanism in the arms that goes bad, but I've examined the wiper linkage up close and I don't see anything that would have to do with them parking.

I think I'm going to hit the salvage yard and start by getting another motor. My washer pump already doesn't work on the current motor so I have reason to try out a new one. I'll make sure and update if I find a solution.

Re: Wipers stop at top

have you checked the linkage where it link to the motor,
im gonna have to tighten mine up, if i hit a bump or rev my engine it causes them to go from the bottom to midway

Re: Wipers stop at top

Have you ruled out the switch? I know my 82 had problems with the wipers too. First they wouldn't stop, once you turned them on you would have to turn the truck off to stop them, even if the switch was in the off position. new switch fixed that problem. I also had a problem where randomly swipe one time and then park, 15+/- mins later...one swipe and then park. Never figured that one out and eventually got to where I didn't notice it.
