64 Parking Brake Lines
I am removing the factory transmission X-member and I am replacing it with the CPP tubular for a 700R4. I see that this poses a problem when mounting the parking brake cable mechanism. Is there an easy solution?

Not sure about the easy part but, take a look at TR65's thread. Starting at post # 8. He has some pics of a parking brake mech. that he built. He is using a different trans, but maybe it will help.

ANother option you might consider, which I thought was really neat....
On a customers 65 Nova, we used a e-brake cable kit from Lokar. Really nice long cut to length cables, and the attatchment to the OG main cable. I was thinking of going this route on my Burban ...

Here are some pics of what I was talking about....
- - -  -  -  - - I am not trying to endorse their product, but I just thought it was a really clean way of doing it. (however, it is available thru us  )The cable mount mounts very easily, and is small enough to fit anywhere. In this case, it was ran outside the frame connector, in line with the stock cable.

I bought a pre-made crossmember with the e-brake mount and added to it. Made just for our trucks.
http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...php?ITEMID=108 I canalbized the old crossmember parts from it. Used clevis pins, cotter keys, drilled, bent and made a brass bearing. I didn't use a spring. I have springs on each side on my rear disc brakes. Mocked up clears my 4L85E just fine. Yes I do have a powdercoat problem, my son suggested a 12 step program for me. |

Thank you for the complement. Lokar stuff is nice but I'm going for the semi hidden stock look. I also converted a 1985 c10 gas pedal with the cable. No more linkage. Modified the brake pedal, welded a 1985 c10 larger pedal up. But I have issues kept the old school pull up brake. Yep that's powdercoated too. Thank you once again. zpoppy
