Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Figured out I could save the driver side door. Just need to patch the bottom not replace the whole thing.
So, I took measurements, drew an outline of the profile and cut out the rust. Should finish it up this weekend and start on the passenger side door. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
We have a heater that works now! Replaced the fan motor which had seized, tore apart the fan switch and cleaned it up with a dremel tool, and ran new wiring. Moved back the radiator and installed the fan shroud, which seems to have solved our overheating issues...very productive couple of days. Still need to order some new heater control levers and knobs but at least everything works now.

Grandpa was able to repair the original sending unit! We now have a functioning gas gauge. I have two more I will let him take a crack at.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Pulled the Heater out the other day for a member in need. So today I cleaned up the atifreeze and did a quick polish. Ran into some loose screws but I did tighten the loose bolts on the truck. Checked for leaks where the pipe plugs were installed. Fluids and fuel pressure were good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
What a project you're taking on. Looks good. I took my LT1 chevy truck out for another test ride today and will need posi for sure. You'll love how they run.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Took the truck out for a cruise with the LT1 finally running and can't believe how this thing runs. I've had some warmed over 350's before and this runs so much better. Love the fuel injection. Starts and runs awesome. Here's a pic with engine running and one of me trying out the excelleration. From the pic you can see I need positraction. Picked up a ford 9" rear end with disk brakes, 5x5 lug pattern to match front. Time to install a posi unit and get it under the truck. I had done this same swap with the 9" on a 66 C10 and loved it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I like it, you know it reminds me of a 56 chevy two tone paint job. If that's a rail cap on your tailgate [don't know if I'm seeing things] where did you get it?
most of the ones I find are for the newer pickups thanx...Vernski |

The paint scheme is airbrushed and it mimics the 56' Nomad! I was really nervous about doing the airbrushing myself but, I really liked how it turned out! I like it mostly because it is different & I did it myself! Posted via Mobile Device

More cutting, welding, and flanging. Out with the rust, in with the patch panels.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Yea man I like the way those lights took at night with both on, I got to get around to doing that.
Got her running!!! Took her for a test drive to fill up the tank and then off to a buddies house to figure out the roof issues, ran great! After all that I went over to the parts truck and stripped it of fenders and the wiper cowl and then laughed as my dog got in the engine compartment and couldn’t figure out how to get out!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Went to my buddy Harry's house to check the progress on the wood for the bed...
It's planed down rough cut 2" x 10" 100 year old Southern Yellow Pine that was used in the roof system of the old Westinghouse factory buildings in East Pittsburgh, PA. I bought it off a guy on CL that had been reclaiming and cleaning it to sell... reasonable. Harry said it was hard on the planer! He didn't like the nail holes either, but I think they add to the story; besides once it's in varnish they will all be pretty well filled in. Next Harry's going to make final cuts and groove to GMC Paul's blueprint... I love the grain and the deep colors. rg |
