Air ride stuff mounted in bed? Worries of theft?
Hey guys
Still struggling to figure out where to mount all my air ride compressors, tank, manifold etc. I really would like to mount it all in the bed where you can see it. I have the accuair stage 2 with EXO mount. My only concern is theft of the parts... Anyone ever have any problems with theft or vandalism or tampering when its all exposed and mounted inside the bed?

Is your truck a daily driver? Where will it be parked overnight?

VERY subjective question and answer.

Around here anything in the bed is up for grabs.

Mine will be driven once in a while. Its not my only vehicle. Its parked in a garage overnight 99% of the time. Has anyone ever had compressors stolen or anything? I guess its all probably 10x safer if its underneath bolted to the frame.

In my way of thinking, thieves are a stupid and lazy lot. If they don't see it, they won't know it's there, and if it's hard to get to, they will move on to the next opportunity.

Re: Air ride stuff mounted in bed? Worries of theft?
I have had air ride equipment in an open bed before and never had a problem, but who knows. I always had my stuff bolted through the floor where it took two people to install/remove. 1 under the bed and one above. You better watch out for Steve he keeps trying to steal my wheels out of the back yard!
Although I never had problems I eventually got a tonneau cover just for my own peace of mind.

Re: Air ride stuff mounted in bed? Worries of theft?
I'd be more worried about someone stealing the whole truck than individual parts...

Re: Air ride stuff mounted in bed? Worries of theft?
I'd just love to show off the chrome compressors and all that stuff especially at the local car shows... its just a shame to bolt it all to the frame where nobody will see it. PLUS all the road debris, dirt, dust and maybe once in a while all the water that it will be subject too... hhmmm... what to do... Maybe I'll mount it all in the bed and make a removeable/locking hard cover out of wood or something that would match the truck and wood bed floor.
