center support bearing removal?

How do i remove the support bearing off the front drive shaft piece? Looks like i'd remove a bolt out the back side - removing the rear yoke??? If so is it regular left hand threads?

Went ahead and pulled the whole driveshaft out. Does the center u joint have to be pressed out?

yes it does then remove bolt than replace support bearing assembly. Make sure you keep the shaft in phase

Re: center support bearing removal?

Not just in phase, exactly the way it was ballanced. Mark everything!
Remove center ujoint from bolt on yoke, remove bolt on yoke (it shouldn't just slide off), remove rubber from bearing.
If you have a nice tubing or chain vice you can clamp the shaft down as close to the bering as possible and try to beat it off with a hammer and punch. If it doesn't move after a few good hits cut it off! To prevent bending the stub.
You can probably use a deep well socket and a hammer to put the new bearing on. Being carefull to only hit the inner race.

Re: center support bearing removal?

If you have a driveline shop handy it never hurts to have them check the ballance after.
I've never seen a shaft go back together and have the ballance not change a little.
They will also notice bad ujoints, ujoints not properly shimmed, loose yokes, worn pinion yoke, bent tubing, bad welds, and other stuff someone who doesn't spend 40hrs a week staring at driveshafts wouldn't notice.
