Re: Has anyone tried these power window kits for 55-59 trucks
I don't post much but I can respond to your question.
I could not figure out a way to make the crank style switches work with the power window motors from Nu Relic. The both need to use the same space. The issue I found was the thickness of the crank switches was too much, even if you cut out the sheet metal and reworked the area for the crank switches. Now I am sure a better craftsmen could do "something" with it but I found this was a major issue and I needed to move forward. I purchased a chrome plug (or cap) and I sand blasted it so it would take paint and then I put in the hole where the manual crank would come thru on the door panel. I used a set of aftermarket power window switches and placed them in the door panel right where the opening for the upper door hinge bolts pocket are. I then routed the wires into the door and used door contacts instead of loom for the jams. Of course I can only use the power windows with the doors closed but that is okay and not an issue for me. I really like the Nu Relic power window motors, a true bolt in. Last edited by 01spirit750; 02-04-2013 at 06:28 PM. Reason: updated |

I've used them on a '51 suburban along with the power switch. They worked great, i didn't have any problem getting the switch to clear the power unit.. the handle on the '51 might not be in the same place as the '55 so not sure what problems you might have making the switch work... if you have any questions call them they are great to work with...

I used nu-relic units and converted my 54 to one piece windows. They are good quality units and the people are very helpful.
